FaithLife Study Bible app. Crashing
I can log into the app, but when it tries to download books it crashes. After crashing when I open the app again I get a message telling me books have been downloaded but cannot be located do I want to download them again. If I try to download again, crash.

Alabama,
I have let it crash 6 times. The usage went from 105 mb to 219 mb. How large should this be with just the LEB and dictionary and faithlife info graphics and pictures and videos? It would make it easier to do this, crash and restart if one had a clue regarding file size. If not, I just don't have the time to waste and wil just wait for it to go off beta to use it.

My two installations (iPad & iPhone) are between 650 - 750 MB.

I am not sure. There are things missing from your list… [;)]
My guess, though, is that the pictures & videos take up the lions share of my stats above.

I have more time on my hands than I would like [Thanks Economy [:S]]. I did have this exact problem with my 1 gen iPad… but you are the second that I know of. I have spent more than 12 hours over 2 weeks with this issue… It is fixed now, but continuing to download may or may not fix the issue. The app is running fine for me now, but I am on a beta build that you are not. [The beta build did not fix the problem, but when it finished downloading, the app worked. In all other builds it kept crashing]
Do you know how to post logs? From the "home" page, click on the gear wheel in upper right corner. Click "about," then scroll down to "send support info." This will bring up a privacy warning. Click "continue." This will bring up an email form. CHANGE the "to" field to your own email address. This will send yourself the log, which you can then attach to this thread.
Last question: Do you have many notes/highlights? Any large files?

I am not going to mess with it any more, until a stable release fixes the issue. I have the pictures and videos on the computer in my Logos account. To me it is not worth the frustration it causes to get it to work.
To me personally, Logos shoots itself in the foot, when they release something on ITunes and it causes this many problems.0 -

I am not sure why it was released… It is my understanding that they still wanted it kept quiet… however… If they wanted a larger section to "beta" test, they needed to release the app in the store. Apple only allows a very limited number of "beta" testers… to install a "beta" version your UDID has to be put on a list with apple. My guess is that Logos intended to open the gates to a wider but limited group. I think that Bob decided to open the doors a little more because of all the very interested Logos users poking their heads around due to Dan's tweet. [:D] Logos rarely deletes threads… they have deleted several that began discussing faithlife.

i found it in the app store, it came up as one who might be interested in this app since you have Logos and Vyrso installed. I think it was the genius feature that directed me to it. I missed the tweet by Dan and the other posts.
So I discovered it by accident.

So I discovered it by accident.
If my explanation isn't accurate, and if they wanted to keep it secret, I don't know why it went live. [:S] Thinking about it… The Vyrso app happened the same way. Another user discovered it, the posted about it, which led others to discover it. Perhaps there is something in the approval process… Maybe once Apple approves, it goes live? You would think that the developer would have more control… Who knows. [:)]

Alabama,
I understood what you said and what you said was accurate, I was just trying to tell you how I found it.
I have seen the post from Bob about unreleased stuff.

The app should be locked down and not allow you to run it if you don't have the Faithlife Study Bible notes unlocked. We have only unlocked them for a few people, because the app in the store is now out of sync with the latest beta (which has to be privately installed, to known UDID's) and with the files on the server.
Some users guessed the coupon code (or purchased0 during a period when the site was accidentally exposed; that's the only way you should be able to get past the login screen.
We don't have control over Apple's app store approval process or timing (boy, do I wish we did!), so we submitted early in order to meet our initial target for release. We then decided to hold the release for more fixes and improvements, but Apple put the app live. And, with the "new iPad" rush of app updates, it appears to app approvals are now taking longer than normal, so we have no idea when the next release (already complete) will show up in the store.
Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the explanation. Don't see any need for an apology.
FWIW, it certainly looks promising!

Bob:
I just want to thank you and the team at Logos for all the hard work. I know it must be difficult to balance fixes with new features, Logos 5 with all it's hoped updates vs. working on Logos 4, the resources to get licensing on, etc. etc. I'm sure at times you've been on the highest high and other times on the lowest low. I'm confident that your excited to see the new features of FaithLife roll out and, perhaps, at the same time are a bit frustrated with how it's worked out. May I encourage you with you probably already know? Our sovereign God is ruler of all things, even accidental early releases, slow app stores and IPad releases, and failed sync servers. Take comfort in knowing it's all working out just as our wise, sovereign God would have it work out. Just keep being faithful.
Thank you again!

Bob,
Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.
I look forward to the full release of this product. I can see the potential for its use in the church.

Is this app still locked? I saw an update that was downloaded via ITunes when I synced my IPad.
Just wondering if it works or still crashes when trying to use it?

Is this app still locked?
Yes. It's not that the app is locked per se, but that there is content associated with it which has not been released to the public. I don't know when it will debut, but I would not be sitting by the computer. [:)] I am sure Logos will make a big deal about it when the time comes.

As long as they keep updating the app, there will potentially be downloads. If it gets annoying to update a (currently) useless app, you can always delete it until the time comes.

I am now seeing that the Faithlife bible site will let you subscribe. it says its free with a coupon code. Does anyone know how to get that code? Otherwise it's $30 per year.

First, John, welcome to the forums!
It is still in private beta and is not available to the public at this time (paid or otherwise).

Oh my. I wish I had read this thread. I purchased it last night and I was wondering why I've been seeing a lot of "Missing license for resource" messages.
