+1 The text looks remarkably sharper and I believe, when Logos updates the app properly to take advantage of the retina display, it will look even better!

Sorry Alabama, I was just gushing. It was a relief, to me cause I had just bought the ipad2 last year and was second guessing myself until I saw the screen and the sharper text. My wife got the iPad 2 and she's happy she doesn't have to share it wit me anymore

Ditto, and I like it too!
For the group here that spends a lot of time thinking, studying and (presumably) note-taking, what kinds of other apps would you recommend for "theological" productivity?

I find Evernote (for note-taking) and Dropbox (for accessing documents on my iPad) to be excellent.

Hurray! I just got my new Ipad in the mail today...all the way from China via Alaska. I set it up and spent the afternoon browsing and trying to learn by experimenting how to make things work. The Greek texts show up so nicely, bright and clear. Downloaded a few books, a grammar and a lexicon, and so can maybe go eat something now. [:P]
Having used the Nook Color for this in the past, I see that the size of the Ipad is just right for me. My wife gave me permission to get it so I put her name on it and maybe even I'll let her use it.
It is a great tool.

Many congratulations! What size did you get?

I got the 16 gb I don't Use y the iPad for movies pictures or music. We have a 16 gb IPad 2 also which we never even come close to filling up, usually carried about 8 gb free, so my wife talked me out of a 32 gb. For 100 dollars more I wouldn't have minded the extra space, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy it.
I am learning to be a good steward of iPad space
Did you decide to get one or are you still contemplating? The resolution is remarkable, the text is really sharp. It has impressed me more than I thought it would

I also got my new iPad today. I bought the 64 gig and my favorite part is the dictation that I just spoke this

I bought the 32gb in white and wi-fi version. Pricey enough for me. It is so nice. I just downloaded a bunch of apps and of course, Logos was the first one, then Skype and Netflix. Don't know if I will use the other one unless on a trip. Now need a good wrap around case. I saw one at a conference and should have asked to examine it. It looked like the man was carrying a leather folio case in tan leather. I didn't know it was an IPad in it.

It is pricey, and yet evidently not overpriced since Apple's competitors are having trouble matching its capabilities at substantially lower prices. If I can talk myself into buying one (it's been an ongoing conversation between me and me!), then the 32GB is probably what I would go with, in black.
Here is a good review of some cases.

Thanks, Bill, for the suggestion on the cases. I am looking at them now. The IPad is very slippery in the hands and I won't take it anywhere until I get a case for it.
The problem is choosing. Very hard to do. I have placed the link you sent in the favorites. I knew about zagg and maybe that is the way to go, leather and keyboard. I have regretted buying cheap in the past.

Replying to myself is rather stupid, maybe. But I wanted to add that I just figured out how to configure several email accounts. Please don't ask me, I could not give a rundown. I used the hunt and peck method, but did it.
Then I went to Netflix to sign in. I had already watched part of a video on the TV which was the US Parks and so I then picked up where I had left off to see how nice the screen would look. Remember this is NetFlix with whatever definition it is in. And it looked very nice, detail like the fur on the bison and the water going over the Yosemite Falls was really nice.
That added, I wish I owned Apple shares and could then reap the benefits of this promotion! lol.
Yours in our Lord, for His glory,
E.

I have an original iPad, so you will have to take my advice with a grain of salt… the Apple branded "wrap around" cases don't work with mine.
My folks bought my wife and I the iPad to share. They bought a Targus case, which is basically to carry the device around in… the case does not stay on the iPad while you are using it. I took the case back, tried several others, and went back to buy the Targus one back. One thing that I didn't like about the other cases (that stayed on the iPad) is that they interfered with the keyboard doc/charging station (I don't recommend that either). My point is that you should make sure the case will work with other accessories you may be wanting to use.

I have a BOOKBOOK case, http://twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook_ipad/ and while I haven,t used it yet it design suited me well the case is light and very sturdy. and should be very easily removable.

I am playing around with my new 32gig wi-fi iPad! It is amazing reading the text - so clear. My main reason for purchase was Logos, reading and note taking rather than in depth study. It is perfect, better than I expected. And the logos app is snappy on it too.
I just need to make sure my family don't steal it now. We had great fun this afternoon creating a couple of movie trailers with the family and iMovie - maybe I should have not let them see they would enjoy it

I just got my first iPad and I have to say that I think the layout for Logos for the iPad would be better if it lookedv more like the Mac version and less like the iPhone version. Plenty of screen space to have more there. The passage guide shoud at least include the Bible verse you are using

Thanks a lot,
This was a very interesting link. I like that the bookbook case has a zipper to enclose it and keep out the rain if we get caught in a shower.
All the other posts have been interesting. This is getting a lot of comments.

Does it not include the passage in the upper right hand corner?

Had my new 64gb verizon enabled iPad in hand friday morning around 9. I actually called the fedex store and asked them to hold it rather than deliver so that i could get it sooner. Upgraded from (and gave to wife) a 32 gb wifi only ipad 2. I use a Yoobao executive leather case. I love it because it is very thin and looks much like a padfolio. It also has the ability to stand up in two directions. Today my wife bought a Speck pixelskin case. We were disappinted to find that it did not include the magnets to turn the ipad on and off. If my Yoobao case is any indication, most ipad 2 cases will fit the new ipad as well.

I meant the actual text, not just the reference.

Gotcha. By the way… the "iPad app" is the same app as the "iPhone app." The app has UI differences for each platform, but its the same app.

I hadn't compared them, but I hope that Logos considers changing that, especially with the display on the new iPad. Plenty of room to add more info on the screen for the iPad.

I have the leather Incase for my iPad 1, and it's way too heavy.

Ron, since you have both, please convince me that saving 100-150 dollars to buy a refurbished ipad 2 will be a smart choice and that I won't think I need Retina display [;)] . . . I did get some birthday money for an ipad, which I was totally surprised and thrilled to hear. My main question is whether to stay with the 16 GB or move up to 32. Again, because of price, will probably go 16 GB. I will mostly use it for Logos and some Kindle, some free games and perhaps an occasional movie (rent and/or my own HD movie capture). I think 16 will be enough, but I am a little concerned, because I know I won't have all 16 gig available to me.

Dan, I'd seen these. they look cool, for sure. would be interested in your feedback when you start using it. I think right off the back, I would like to be able to display it either portrait or landscape, which bookbook can't do (only landscape, it seems). Curious about the weight, and the ease of using it to read when in bed. And perhaps removing it, as necessary.
