White text, black background

Reading a white text with a black background is much easier on my eyes. In Logos 3, you could accomplish this "accidentally" by dragging the mouse over the text. However, when you do this in version 4 the text stays black and the background is shifted to blue.

What would really be nice is a feature like the one on the iPod T/iPhone Kindle: you can choose to switch the color of the text to white and the background goes black (I don't have an actual Kindle, so I don't know if this feature is on the actual Kindle reader).

I realize it's not really a big deal, but if you guys at Logos are ever sitting around with nothing to do, perhaps you could work on a feature like this.

Usually the background color etc are controlled by the Windows settings. You might try fiddling with them.

Thanks for the suggestion. As far as I know, this can only be changed in Windows (Vista) by going into the accessibility settings and changing to a high contrast. However, this effects all of the windows in your computer with some pretty nauseating colors (bright purple or blue window titles) and it has disasterous effects on Logos (much of the text simply disappears and the system crashes).

I think the contrast when highlighting a text must also be capable of being set within the program itself since v3 contrasted black and white and v.4 does not. You can also see differences in other programs like IE8 and Firefox (and you can customize the contrast in those programs too). So I'm sure the Logos people could change it if they wanted.

Anyway, like I said, not a big deal. But thanks for the help.

Logos 4 PC can use Windows colors in resources => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3972/294852.aspx#294852 so white text on black background is doable. Caveat: Logos 4 always has a white background for many items: Files, Library, Guides, Search, Tools.

For resource reading, have configured Windows with a yellow background since Black on Yellow is a high contrast combination.

I believe EnTech PowerStrip can do this for your entire computer, not just app by app.

Select "invert gamma ramp" option under Color profiles > Configure. It might not work for all graphics cards.

In any event, that little app can do all kinds of tweaking of your display to make it easier on your eyes. It's shareware; free to try, $29.95 to buy. Not crippleware or nagware. I have only just tried it out a bit since it was recommended for just this usage on another forum, but users raved about it. Seems pretty solid and well-designed, though definitely towards the geeky end as utility software goes.
