Waldensian Church History - A Treasure
What an incredible surprise to see this collection come up in Community Pricing! I read a bit about Peter Waldo and his followers, only briefly in my church history class many decades ago. But I was able to visit the Piedmont region of Italy, near Turin, a couple of summers ago and was totally blown away at learning more about these dear followers of Christ.
What an incredible history! When those following the biblical teachings of the Reformers in Switzerland finally connected with the Waldensians on the other side of the Alps, they realized that the Waldensians had long before rediscovered many "reformation" truths and had already undergone more than three centuries of persecution for the cause of Christ.They gladly joined each other in standing for the Truth.
Google Milton's sonnet: On the Late Massacre in Piedmont to get a taste of what these people endured. This collection is a treasure of history, courage and inspiration, and will be worth every penny. Please get behind it.

I've read a number of the works in this collection and they weren't always easy to get a hold of. This is a top quality collection, and I'm glad to see movement on it. My bids in.

I have a couple of these volumes from Google books and the epubs are not always very good or accurate as to transliterations or translations.

Back in the 70's, when Church History prof Bruce Shelley talked about Peter Waldo and the Waldensians, most of us thought it sounded more a rock group.
Ironically, it was. Real rocks. Three summers ago, several of us pastors climbed up through the rocks above the town of Torre Pellice near Turin, Italy, squeezed through a narrow crevice, then down a pathway, to find ourselves in a large, underground grotto, probably able to hold a couple of hundred people. One ledge up above looked like a balcony/pulpit, and indeed, we later saw woodcuts of crowds assembled in that very grotto to hear the preaching of the Word, with the preacher standing on that ledge. The town below has an incredible Waldensian museum, the Reformation three centuries before the Reformation.
The history of these dear people is awesome, and I knew so little about it. Like you, Ergatees, I managed to find a few works scanned in, hard to read. I really hope folks will make the small investment to bring this great series to publication with Logos.

Amen. Bought it a few years ago, but a lot more expensive at $80.99.
Recommended for anyone who wants to study the history of this pre-Protestant group of "Reformers before the Reformation."
