David - First, welcome to the forums!
Can I use the dictionary option with iPad? Do I need to activate anything? Thanks....
I am unsure what you mean by the "dictionary option with iPad" and "activate." Perhaps you can help me understand better:
- What App are you referring to? (Logos or Vyrso).
- What version of the app (or just "latest" release if you don't have it already)?
- Do you already own Logos resources? A Base package?
EDIT: Let me explain a bit and see if it answers your questions. First, Logos added the ability to use the built in iOS dictionary into the app. If the resource is not tagged to use another resource, it will default to the iOS dictionary. I don't know which version of the app this became available, but it is live in Vyrso 2.1. By "activate," I am unsure what you mean. If you are asking about the feature I just described, no, it is built into iOS. If you are referring to something else, such as original language work, then yes. You need to log into your logos account so that resources you have paid for are associated with your app. NOTE: there are some free resources provided with the app… I am not sure what functionality you may or may not have with those.

Thank you for your quick reply. I do have Logos Silver package (4.5a SR-1 (4.51.0.2057)), and as you know when I click on any word I can see the meaning of it in the dictionory; whereas in iPad I don't get the Define option. Is this the limitation with Logos software on iPad, or perhaps I need to do something to activate this option. I hope this makes it clear. Thanks....

Since you have a base package, you should be able to do this, but it is called "Look Up" and not "Define." Are you logged into your account (using the email address associated with your silver package)? Are you using the latest app? The first screen shot shows a non-tagged, non-bible resource. "Look Up" shows a definition from the iOS dictionary. The second screen shot is from a tagged bible (one with a reverse interlinear), and shows what "Look Up" looks like.

Thank you. I'll give it a try and will let you know if I could not get it to work....

Not sure what I'm doing wrong on this. Instead of the iOS dictionary, I get "no information available".
Any idea what gives?
Thanks,
Stuart

What version of the app are you using? Have you tried both the Logos & Vyrso app? There is a possibility that this feature was added in the 2.1 release… In which case it should work on the newest version of Vyrso, but not the newest release version of Logos.

Logos 2.0.2. Haven't messed with Vyrso.
Thanks, Alabama!

I checked the Logos yesterday and when I used the Look Up (as I did before), I got the pop up window as you indicated in your post for a tagged bible. Now the question remain the same, how can I get the definition of a word whether using iOS dictionary or any other dictionary within the Logos...Thanks...

Are you guys using the beta (Alabama/Graham)? The rest of us are still on 2.0.2, unless I missed something.

I am on 2.0.2, Alabama is running the beta.

I can't get an English definition from within a Bible, but on any other resource on my iPad I can. If I double tap a word and select Look up, the popup will say "No information available, but then I tap on Bible Word Study and and Merriam-Webster's dictionary shows up with a definition or I can hyperlink to the dictionary. I have Webster's prioritized on my desktop library, but I am not sure if that matters. This is on the Logos app, not Vyrso. I am using Version 2.0.2. (I get the iOS dictionary on Vyrso, but not in a Bible.)

how can I get the definition of a word whether using iOS dictionary or any other dictionary within the Logos
As we discovered fumbling through this together in this thread, this feature is a 2.1 feature. The Vyrso app is already there, and you can use it now. The Logos app hasn't been approved yet from Apple, so you will have to wait, or you can try Jerry's suggestion.
