New Ipad 3 - Will Logos be updated for retina display?

Hi,

I currently have an ipad 1 which I love using Logos on at Bible conferences, church etc. I did not upgrade to the ipad 2, but am seriously considering the Ipad 3 with the retina screen, also the ipad 1 is now struggling with some newer apps, anf my wife would like to inherit my ipad 1. Smile

Anyway, does anyone know if Logos plan to update the Ipad app to take advantage of the retina display on the new Ipad 3?

Also, could someone who has upgraded to the Ipad 3 tell me if I am likely to see a difference in text quality from the ipad 1 to the ipad 3 with the current non updated Logos app.

I appreciate any advice.

I think I read in another thread that Logos do plan to upgrade the iOS app to take advantage of the new Retina Display. I don't think any time frame has been given yet. I'm sure another forum user will confirm if this is the case. ["Paging alabama24"]

I have already upgraded to the new iPad and can confirm the text does look remarkably more crisp and sharp, even without the iOS app having been updated yet.

When the latest iPad was announced, Apple said that text would look sharper from the word go with most, if not all, apps. They also said that as and when app developers get around to updating apps to take advantage of the new Retina Display, the results will be even more impressive.

I upgraded from a first generation iPad and one of the things that started to annoy me about it was that apps would routinely close on their own - I believe due to insufficient memory - even though I was careful about not having too many apps open in the background at the same time. I think the first gen iPad had c.250MB of RAM, and the second gen iPad had c.500MB of RAM and the new iPad has c.1GB of RAM - so I hope this isn't an issue that's going to crop up anytime soon.

Yes, the devs have said this is planned. As for the text… Apple has said the text should be more clear from the get go as Paul confirms. (The issue isn't with text but with the graphical user interface.)

The new iPad is much crisper looking and I don't get a headache after extended reading like I used from the eye strain. Also, I contacted Logos via twitter and the retina display update is in the approval process in Apples app store

There is an improvement in the clarity of the text going from an iPad 2 to the new iPad using the existing Logos app.

I upgraded from an iPad 1 to the iPad 3 (aka the "new iPad"). The text is far sharper without the need for a specific update on all iOS apps. For apps that are primarily text (ESV Bible app, Kindle app, RSS apps, and Logos) they automatically" take advantage of the new high pixel density screen.

An update will really only upgrade the little icons and any other graphical features of the program itself (and not the content of the books themselves).

So most of the advantages of having an iPad 3 over an iPad 1 or 2 are gained instantly when you upgrade.

That is also my experience. Didn't buy the iPad 2, and I am glad that I waited for the higher resolution.

I also went from the original iPad to he new iPad and am very pleased with the crisper sharper display. Oh, and my wife, who is a kindergarten teacher, loves my hand me down original iPad!

I am throwing in the towel, and upgrading to the new iPad tomorrow.hopefully, the new processor and larger cache will make a difference.
