The best tips I found are consolidated on the wiki - have a read and let me know what you think.

Best tip: watch the videos.  Seriously.  All of them.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

The videos are too basic and incomplete. I hope Logos posts more in-depth "hoe to" videos in the near future. The one's they have just don't cut it. But I thank you for your suggestion.

    Steven,

what SPECIFICALLY would you like to see as a topic in a video...?

I'm more than willing to tackle what I can and make one.

In the mean time...here are some vids.

Wiki just doesn't ring my bell. I am hoping that there are some beta-users who can really provide some solid "how-to" tips for Logos 4. But I thank you for your reply.

Could you give an example of something that would ring your bell?

Hi Philip, I DID find a few usable tips from Wiki. I spoke too soon. I repent in dust and ashes.I am very thankful to you (and others) who are much better versed in Logos 4. You guys are a great help!

"Turn off the Use Internet option if you are having performance problems."

That's my tip.  But truly the wiki is the place to put these things, and there are a bunch there. It's a good list, go read it.  No bells needed.

I use other Bible study applications in which I can click on a verse and force it to be the current verse.  I find that to be handy and intuitive.

I just realized that in Logos 4 I can

    • right-click a verse
    • in the right-click menu, choose 'Reference Matthew 6:10' (or whatever the verse is I click on)
    • click the first option on the left -- 'Open'.

That makes the clicked-on verse the current verse.  And other resources in the link set follow along.

That's at least one more click than what I want (and sometimes more, if the right-click menu is not on 'Reference x:xx' to begin with).

Once the right-click menu displays, menu options can be accessed with keyboard -- that's handy.  up/down arrows go through the options on the right, and 'tab' takes you to the options on the left, where up/down similarly navigate through the options.

YOu can also do that in L4 - just click on it!

Not only that; when you have BDAG open and you click on a word that you've searched...the verse changes and BDAG's "reference highlight" changes also....that's nice.

    Hi Robert ...

I'm not sure what you mean by this ... where am I clicking on a word I've searched? Was it a Greek search?

    Thanks
    Richard

I would love to hear any tips people might have for working with the cool handouts feature.  Is there an easier way to add information to the handouts pages?  For instance, if I am teaching through 1 John and want to add some information about the Gnostics in my handout, what is the easiest way to go about it?  If I select the "add item" option and type they keyword "gnostics" in, I only get one article which is not really what I am looking for.  How can I search through more of my library to import information into these handouts without copying and pasting information as a "blank item" (which does not seem to cite the source).  One more thing....is there a way to limit the pages of the handouts without having to individually delete every item in the search you do not want to incorporate?

    Thanks!

    Chad

Sadly the handout feature is very limited and has been roundly criticized in previous posts.  For all practical purposes, until Logos updates it, it serves no functional purpose.
