BUGS and other comments: beta 6

image

While I can read and create community notes:

  1. no flags for notes appear in the text
  2. no option for community notes appear in the filters

Comments:

  1. When notes do not post e.g. the size is rxcrrdrd, there is nothing that lets me know it failed (if flags worked perhaps this would not be a problem)
  2. The note size appears to be fairly small - smaller than I need for collaboration.
  3. All available comments "amen, pray, etc". are positive - this doesn't match my real life experience - at a minimum a huh? or explain is needed ... probably an oops would also get lots of use.

Note: I have the same problems in the Faithlife beta group and in the Logos4Catholics group. Also whether I'm running on XP or Windows 7.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I cannot reproduce what you two are seeing. I am getting the Community Notes section of the VF menu and the green speech bubble flags to indicate that there's a community note:

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Portfolio base package, if that makes any difference (which NB.Mick seems to think it might, from a comment he made on another thread).

EDIT: I just noticed that I do NOT get the dropdown menu in my Community Notes tab letting me select what group's notes to view. MJ's screenshot showed it, with Logos4Catholics selected. EDIT2: Never mind. I see now that the dropdown and edit box only show up when you click Add Note. It works fine for me.

EDIT: Seems no other FV change shipped with Beta 6.

Still, the open question is why some user's VF menu shows Community Notes and others not. /EDIT

(have checked: seeing VF at all, turning VF on and off in the menu all works)

    (EDITED out one sentence)

    But how, what triggers this?

    Hmm, curiouser and curiouser.

I can see everything that Rosie can see except the search results filter.  I thought you might have to create a search for it to show up, but tried that and filter still didn't show....are you sure you didn't create a filter with name Rosie ?

it seems the inability to see the "Search Results" FV and the Community Notes Indicator are related.

Like Andrew, I can see all of the community notes indicators but not the search results filter which Rosie can see

Oh, how embarrassing! Andrew, you're brilliant (except my filter wasn't named "Rosie" it was named "Search Results"), and I'm up way too late so my brain isn't working.

    @Logos:

I just want to highlight that the interim discussion of potential other VF changes shouldn't detract from the problem reported by MJ:

This problem exists as well on my machine. So far, Logos has not commented on this at all.

Is this a known issue? Do you know the circumstances that lead to this bug?

Is this something you need information on (such as logs - maybe covering the same sequence of steps executed by people who can see the note indicators and those who don't?) to find out about why this happens?

I think we are willing to help improve Logos by giving you the info you need to fix such things, but right now I'm a bit at a loss - do users affected by this need to do something with their machine (reinstall .NET or whatever), do we just need to wait for beta 7 or is this something you need info on - and which?

We are aware of the bug report and are investigating the problem. (Sorry for no feedback so far. FYI, I just added it to the Known Issues list.)

Please upload your "Logos Log Files\Logos4Error.log" file (if you have one), in case it contains clues as to what might be causing the problem. (We don't need the other logs.)

In your first post on this thread, you said you have the same problem. Do you still experience the problem? Do you have a Logos4Error.log file? If so, please post it here.

I have three of them, see attached (when I first saw you post and answered, I was not at my Logos machine). The problem still exists. This time, I observed the logfile folder during startup and saw that the error came up during Logos-bootup - prior to me opening a resource or the Community Notes. It says "Retrieving the list of groups for user ID 651397 failed." and the detailed stuff starts with "Response JSON could not be deserialized to AccountServices.Models.Groups.GroupCollectionDto: Error deserializing"

    Thanks, this is helpful.

You appear to be a member of a Faithlife Group that has a type of "Discussion Topic". Unfortunately, this is causing a problem with Community Notes in Logos 4.

We'll fix it for the next beta. In the meantime, you could: a) leave that group, or b) ask a group admin to change its type to something else (e.g., General).

    Bradley, thank you so much.

I can confirm that leaving two Faithlife groups with type "Discussion Topic" and restarting Logos brought the Community Notes indicators as well as the Visual Filter menu section to turn these on and off.

Hope this will help others as well.

    Bradley,

Somehow I couldn't read this from the Release Notes - but I can confirm this is fixed in Beta 7. I rejoined "Biblical Theology", then started L4: the Community Notes indicators appear, I can see notes belonging to this group, Logos didn't write any error.log

    Splendid work, much appreciated!

    Thanks a lot,

    Mick
