Logos/Biblia/Vyrso for Android 1.0 Beta 1 Released
We are pleased to announce the first 1.0 Beta release of the Logos, Vyrso, and Biblia apps.
Among the many new features this beta includes new auto update functionality. When installed from the links below the apps default to listening for future updates on the stable channel. In order to receive new 1.0 Beta updates when they are available please switch to the beta channel by entering "beta" (no quotes) in the Update Channel field on the About page.
This beta is a non-market release but installing it does upgrade existing Logos/Vyrso 0.9.4 and Biblia 0.9.5 market installs.
Kindle Fire Users: If you previously installed from the Amazon App Store, you must first uninstall that version before you can install this beta.
Please report any issues with this beta in new threads.

to make it super easy to download this with your Kindle Fire I created the following shortcut link to this post.
I find using the Kindle Fire browser pretty painful when navigating these forums. This makes it super easy.
And thanks! Can't wait to take a look!

Kevin:
Maybe you tried this, but both the reading plan and devotionals display when you press the Devotions link.

FYI, there is no highlight or notes feature I see. Still the UI is much nicer and worth the install.

This a great update! Thanks for the hard work.
I have one question. It appears this update does not sync note files storied in favorites. Is that correct?

Was this supposed to have highlights/notes or the ability to view existing note files? I would certainly be excited if it did but since it's not listed in the features/known issues list I don't see any reason to think those features should have been here other than desperate wishful thinking. (Which I admit to having too!)

No notes or highlighting yet. Still behind the iOS curve. But reading plans are a nice addition.

I'm coming up on the 2-year anniversary of purchasing an Android phone (instead of an iPhone) because of the promise of being able to read with highlighting and syncing to my computer. Now, I am faced with the same issue. It's time to renew my phone contract. Should I stick with the Android and risk waiting another two years on highlighting, or just go ahead and get the iPhone?

Mark,
Based upon your comment that you seem to have bought an android so you can read and highlight/sync - I think you need an iphone, unless you can get a dev to confess to you that they already have the highlighter code ready to drop in this month.
Mind you, this is coming from a guy who simply will not buy an apple product.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Notes and highlighting will be coming soon after the 1.0 release. Many of the prerequisites are now in place including sync support (ex/ Favorites and Reading plans) and the ability to markup text (ex/ Reading plan markers).

I was about to drum up some false humility. But I got none at the moment. [h]Don't worry though, humiliation usually follows.

Thanks for all your hard work... this is a significant step forward...
But I'm still pleading for attention to the most basic capability needed after READING the text: a BASIC search... which still seems too difficult, even if BWS & other cool more advanced stuff works flawlessly... I do like that basic search operators seem to be working well (I tested AND, OR, ANDNOT)... but it's still too difficult to find a search term due to a couple of major shortfalls (unless I've missed some really cool enhancements somewhere along the line):
- Need search ranges to be able to limit our searches---even more on a phone's small form factor than on a PC. Try finding a verse in James using the search term faith. If that's all we can remember, we'rein trouble.... wading through all the instances of faith from Genesis on.... Ranges aren't optional.
- And there are still too many places INDOORS where I'm using Logos that I DON'T have reliable cell phone OR wifi services. For search to work ONLY on-line makes it unusable, seemingly "only" when I need it... Online search only remains unacceptable, for basic search....
Calendaring, signals, & other advanced capability are all nice to have for those using Proclaim & the other programs they integrate with. But all of us using this app need basic search....
Grace & Peace,
Bill

Notes and highlighting will be coming soon after the 1.0 release
Are you using the word soon as most of us would use it meaning sometime in the next few weeks or the way Logos often uses it meaning sometime after now but could be a couple of years. We've heard soon many times from Logos employees including the president himself and soon often turns into a year or longer.
To answer the question. If you want the best Logos mobile app experience and that's your primary use for a smart phone or tablet, then get an iPhone or iPad. The Logos Android experience has NEVER been as good as it is on iOS. I doubt that will change anytime "soon".
And to Gabe Martin, please take my comments in jest as they were intended. I'm just having fun with you not trying to be mean spirited.

One thing I would love to see is support for personal books so that I could make my sermon a personal book and display it beside my Bible in split screen during preaching. I haven't seen it on any of the coming features lists. It would be nice if there was even a work-around to put them on via usb so that Logos's servers would not have to store everyone's personal books.

After downloading beta 1, I am not able to open any books. It starts to and then goes back to the library screen. It is on a Kindle Fire.

After a restart of my Fire, it now works.

Some how I thought that this was automatic. Hope for this feature also. I use my tablet when preaching sometimes.

Kevin, you can answer the question yourself depending on how you interpret Rev.1:1. Was "things that must SOON take place" referring to AD70 or 2000+ years in the future?
blessings.
