Missing Notes?

Hey Everyone, I would be willing to swear in a court of law that I made notes from a study I did of the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, but it's not showing up in my list of notes and what not.  Is there a possibility that it is just not showing up?  Is there a way to organize this list, so that the different types of objects up there can be listed together, i.e. the notes with the notes, the passage lists with the passage lists.

Thank you for any help!

Tim - First, welcome to the forums!

If you type "notes" in your file menu, all your note files will show up. Is that what you are asking to do?

When you said that you created "notes," did you add them to an existing note file, or create a new one? Did you attach the notes to the biblical text (reference), to a selection (translation specific), or were the notes unattached to anything?

    Welcome [:D]

One option is click Files so drop-down menu appears, then type Not next to magnifying glass to filter list of Files:

Another option is searching for a verse reference in My Content:

Very cool, thank you for the tip on how to sort the different notes and passage lists I have.  I appreciate it!  I thought that I had created it's one notes file, but I cannot find it.  I am not quite sure what you mean about attaching.  I know that in my study of the Sermon on the Mount I created a whole bunch of notes for each individual chapter of the book we used to study it.  I may not have created one after all.  I know if I would have created one, I would have highlighted stuff, but in looking through my commentaries, I have no highlights, so I think I am mistaken.  It does not help that I have a cold and am operating at 50% : ).  Thank you for the help!

I am not quite sure what you mean about attaching.

When you create a note via selecting text in a versified resource (i.e. bible or commentary), you are given the choice of attaching the note to the "selection" or to the "reference" (see screen shot below). When you attach the note to the reference, the note will appear in EVERY versified resource at that reference. If you want to create a note that will appear in every commentary and bible translation, this is what you want. On the other hand, you may want to create a note just in the one commentary, translation, etc, in which case you want to choose "selection." ALL highlighting notes are necessarily by "selection" only, and consequently will only appear in the specific resource (rather than in all versified ones).

The two types of notes I just described are attached to either the "reference" or to the "selection." If you create a note in the note file by itself, it is not attached to anything. There will be no note indicator in any book, nor will the note appear on your mobile device. Only notes which 1) are attached to a resource and 2) have a visible indicator or highlight can be viewed on the mobile app.

From description, wonder if notes were "attached" to text selected in book used to study, which would not appear in other resources (e.g. commentaries).  In contrast, notes that are attached to verse reference can appear in Bibles and Commentaries.

Edit: for illustration, added a note with reference to Philippians 4:4 so a Green dot appears in Bible and Commentary near verse number milestone:

I am not quite sure what you mean about attaching.

When you right-click in a Scripture resource, you see something like this screen shot

    image

If you select reference and then a note file from the bottom of this same menu, the note will be attached to the verse reference and will appear at that verse in every resource that is indexed by Scripture reference. If you click "selection" the note will be attached to that word in that one resource.

This is a very old thread relating to a much earlier version of Logos software.

I would expect the issue you are seeing is for a different reason than that reported here.

Please start a new thread in the Logos 9 desktop forum - https://community.logos.com/forums/155.aspx - providing as many details as possible and we'll try to help
