Does this app actually work anywhere?
I came across "FaithLife Study Bible" in the Google play (amazon Marketplace) store while grabbing Logos, and went ahead and downloaded it -- but it doesn't work (says I need a license), and the website suggests I should get a coupon code to try it free ... but then tries to charge me $30 a year.
When I came here I find the forums still marked "Beta" ... What gives?
I'd hate to pay $30 without knowing what I'm even getting, but I'd hate it even more if it's still in beta, and even more if there was actually a coupon code to get it free

Firstly, welcome to the forums.
I begin with a caveat: I am on iOS and so this may be a little different for 'droid.
The app is currently on closed Beta for iOS. The app is available in the istore but cannot be used without an invite from Logos to participate in the Beta. I presume, but cannot confirm, that this is the same with 'droid. I am sure someone will chip in with an absolute confirmation, but wanted to reply immediately (before you subscribed). If things are radically different on the 'droid side, someone will, no doubt, clarify.

as Andy explained, the Faithlife Study Bible (FSB) is still in an invite-only private beta. It has its own forum which is hidden to people who don't own it.
This refers to the FSB, which is a resource, or rather a collection of resources including
- a Study Bible (which accomodates itself to half a dozen of the bibles you may use - very cool!),
- a daily devotional,
- maps,
- infographics,
- photos and
- a number of videos as well.
If you were to compare it to other Study bibles like ESV or NIV, it simply blows them away. The concept of FSB as an electronic resource means that Logos intends to continually upgrade it, and I understand that to cover this maintenance they want to sell it in form of a subscription.
The FSB works in the Logos full-feature program on PC & Mac, but also on the internet (via biblia.com) and on mobile devices. For these devices, Logos created respective apps, which now come up in the stores. i don't know whether these contain the FSB content already on some platforms or download it when you have a licence. I assume the latter.
The forum you are in right now refers to Faithlife, an online community which allows some sort of group discussions, sharing content and other things you would know from social media platforms (such as a concept of user groups). Faithlife is not really connected to the FSB - you may use it totally independent of this resource. Faithlife is in open beta, since the current open beta version of the Logos program contains features that build on Faithlife - such as notes visible to group members in the Faithlife community, or sharing content to social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Faithlife. It is expected (and semi-officiallly announced) that the beta goes life this or next week - it already is in stadium Release Candidate 2.
Since the FSB as a product is linked to its potential usage in a community, it may well be that FSB goes life along with Logos 4 and the Faithlife site. This is just a guess - since I'm no insider, I don't have any information on the time schedule and official realease of FSB may still be months down the road.
Right now Logos is still fine-tuning the content and tweaking bits and pieces (meaning, as a current owner of FSB, I get an updated resource download nearly daily). I'm sure that Logos also behind the scenes is updating biblia.com to enable things not yet working, such as videos.
I'm not sure whether people can ask Customer Support to be invited to the private beta, or whether they don't do this due to directly upcoming official release - but you may try to get in, if you want.
It may be that upon official release Logos offers a coupon code to get it free for a limited period of time, e.g. one year, so stay tuned!

You may want to use your logos log-in, such as u use here, and peruse 'faithlife.com', the app will work about the same as what you see[read, interact, etc.] there. Which also is linked to 'Biblia.com'-

Well, that's a bit annoying, publishing apps that won't work, and I was already confused by "Vyrso" vs "Logos"
Guess I'll just uninstall that and wait to hear about it in the ads on my desktop Logos.

That's baloney -- they pushed the app to the Google (Android) Play store and the iPhone store ... and I'm supposed to blame the stores? [^o)]
P.S.: I love the loyalty in here, so let me just say, I love the Logos desktop app, and just wish I could get some highlighting and note-taking on my phone (Oh, and I really with they would support importing ePub and Mobi, but that's another thread). But this pre-beta non-functional release is an ugly mistake for a company that's got multiple apps already in both these stores and knows how they work.

In the Kindle Fire world the new version of the app is clearly a beta that has to be side loaded. If I felt obligated to blame anyone, I would blame the interconnection leaks that pushed Logos into opening the betas early. Personally, I don't feel obligated to cast blame - it is what it is within the difficult environment of multi-platform, instant sync software development.
