I am considering purchasing  Version 3 of Scholars Gold to upgrade my Logos 4 Original Languages Library.  Is this possible?  Is it possible to have it added to Logos 4 that way, and if so, would I go from having Logos 4 Original Languages Library to Logos 4 Scholars Gold.  How does it work as I do not want to waste money?  What should I know? Is there a license transfer and how does that work?  I notice that there a few version 3 for sale out there.  Thanks.

Dan, welcome to the Logos forums!  I have great news for you: Logos has created an Upgrade Discounter (<--click the link!) especially for those of us who have a base package, and are interested in upgrading to a higher base package.  In answer to your questions, all you have to do is click the link, select the package you want to upgrade to (Gold, in your case), go through the "check out" process, and the upgrade will be downloaded by your Logos application.  Sometimes it can take a while to automatically update, so you can type "UPDATE NOW" in the command box to force the download to begin.  Remember, the download can take quite a while, and indexing your library after the download can take even longer.

Daniel, I understand from "Version 3" in your posting that you want to buy a Libronix version of Scholars Gold, possibly on a CD-ROM. I think this should be possible - and if you are the first user of it, and register with the Logos ID (=email adress) you are using for L4, everything should run fine in installing Libronix, then you synchonize licences.

Alternatively, you may call customer support and tell them the code on the CD-ROM-package, they add the licencee to your account and you can scan the resources from CD or download them to L4 without installing the Libronix package.

If someone already had it installed, you need to have a licence transfer, which takes it away from its former user and give sit to you - something that works only with Customer Support. Note that AFAIK it is not possible to transfer the licence if the former owner bought with a discount (such as academic pricing) you are not eligible for.

You should definitely take a look at the upgrade page Mark referred to and/or have a talk with (e.g. Santiago from) Sales - maybe they can give you the upgrade cheaper than the price of the L3 package.

Maybe some other users may want to chime in.

Have joy in the Lord! Smile

You should definitely check with Sales before you do this. I did not own Logos back in Libronix days, but as I understand it Gold 3 did not include the same books as Gold 4 does, so you will pay for books you already have in OLL, while still not getting all the books that are in Gold now. You will also have a complicated, and perhaps expensive, upgrade path to 'get back on track'. Unless you've found Gold 3 for sale at a ridiculously low price, or it includes something you desperately want, but which Logos has since been forced to drop, I suspect it's probably not a good affair to take that route. And be very careful if you intend to buy a used copy. Double-check with Logos that the person truly owns a legitimate, registered, copy, or you might end up losing your money.

Also, don't upgrade via the website. Sales usually seems able to give better prices. Given the complexity of the question I too suggest you ask for Santiago.

Thanks y'all, you have all given good advice.  I'll deal directly with Sales.  This is a great site with quick response.  Like everyone, I'm learning my way around.  It's great to have people who have been around a while to show the way for us who are new.  Thanks again!   Grace and peace to you.  Dan Giorgi
