Willem de Wit, "On the Way to the Living God" also available in PDF for free

Dear Timothy,

Thanks for your interest in my book On
the Way to the Living God and for pointing people to the accompanying
website On the Way to the Living God.

Let me add a few comments on my book:

1. While it is a scholarly book (originally
defended as a doctoral thesis at VU University Amsterdam), I’ve tried to write
it in such a way that it can speak to people who are searching for the living
God themselves and would not be satisfied with easy answers. Others have indeed
called the book “inspiring” and “very fascinating.”

2. In the two essays on Herman Bavinck I
am not so much a “fan” who reads him uncritically as a “friend” who seeks to
understand him personally (drawing on his letters and personal notes). Readers
of Bavinck’s Reformed Dogmatics may appreciate these chapters as a help
to understand the man behind the dogmatics.

3. On the Way to the Living God can now be obtained in three ways: as a printed book, as
a free pdf (in A4, A5, and Letter formats), and as a Logos4 electronic book (on prepub since Friday May 4). Needless to say
at this forum, the Logos4 electronic edition will offer you the most advanced
reading experience. I've used a good number of Logos books when I wrote my
book, so I expect that it will nicely integrate with other books in your Logos
library.

4. If you would like to read some more

3. While On the Way to the Living God is partly written in
reflection on living in one of the most secular cities of Europe, namely
Amsterdam, I live now in Cairo, Egypt, just a mile away from the square where
demonstrations were suppressed with force this Friday. I write about my
experiences in Egypt at wjdw.nl (in Dutch, but try the automatic translation function
of Google Chrome or something similar if you don't know that language).

4. If someone is interested in master
studies in theology in the Middle East, I invite him or her to consider (part
of) the English master’s
program of the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo, where I teach
both Biblical Studies and Systematic Theology courses.

PS: Bavinck fans may love the following
story: This semester I'm teaching a course on eschatology here in Cairo and I'd
given one of the students a couple of pages of Bavinck's Reformed Dogmatics for his research paper. Yesterday
he told me: "Really, this is wonderful, this is exactly what we need to
have translated into Arabic."
