Missing avatars/pics on the forum
There are several people's avatar2/pics which are not showing up in forum threads. Not that it is really important (lol since i do not use one). But i thought that it was interesting that so many (not all) are suddenly not working. i am using FireFox browser which has in the past shown all these. i wonder if it might have something to do with Faithlife settings?
EDIT: for instance, all the MVPs had a pic or avatar

That probably has to do with a switch we made with where we host the avatar images now. Previously, we checked Gravatar for images prior to downloading them from our servers, but we recently changed to skipping the Gravatar step and directly serving them from S3 now. There were a few users that had gravatars that are now using the profile images set via logos.com.
I don't think there are any Faithlife settings related to this, but Faithlife use of the avatars was one of the motivations to simplify the process for displaying them.

What would be the most acceptable format: *.bmp, *.jpg, *.png, etc. etc./?

Whatever avatar is on your Logos.com account should end up on your forums account. It just might take a short while until we publish changes to the services behind this.

It's kind of weird not being able to see most avatars here. All I can see is a slightly stunned-looking penguin and TCBlack. Back to a faceless internet.
And my guy on the bike's getting fat from lack of exercise...

One of the services behind the avatars is planned to be updated tomorrow and that should let us set the avatars to be the logos.com profile images once again.

Well, that penguin looked pretty guilty, after the avatars began disappearing one by one. I think Steve knew exactly where to begin looking.

Arrgh ... that explains why the Logos website and forums are so slow and unreliable ... S3. No other website has any problem. Logos will time out 60% of the time ... at all times of the day ... I have only found this issue on one other site, who store their audio files (http://christianaudio.com/).
It is of particular issue where processing is involved ... Product pages are fine ... purchasing times out frequently leaving me uncertain as to their status ... Vyrso hangs even worse ... looking at my account is at best painful ... forums can take an age to follow links (that is if I do not see 'service unavailable' before the time out error).
Given I am on fast broadband link in East London ... not a remote island somewhere ... Arrrrgh!

Curious when image was changed in your profile ?
Also wonder about editing forum profile, then click site options, and change something ? (e.g. signature, which seems to appear quickly)

I changed it last night around 9PM EST in my profile, after the avatar storage was suppossed to be switched to the S3 server. In addition, I am also experiencing slow or unresponsiveness from the forums.

I am working on getting these to display correctly for everybody. Currently testing with mainly the MVP profiles but everybody should all be visible again fairly soon.

The original post (now deleted) was allegedly posted by Jack Caviness, and now a very similar post has been put up by David Ladiges. Poor Jack, he's beeen kidnapped by the penguins and will no doubt be appearing in Happy Feet 3 at some point.
