Recommend Base Package? Displaying on iPad
Our pastor would like Logos (uses a Mac) so I am thinking of getting him the Leaders Base Package to get him started. Then if possible gift him $100-200 in a few months to add specific commentaries, bible dictionaries he wants. At this time I really can't afford to start him off with the Scholar's. If I wait the Base Package sale will be over with. I don't know his study habits if he relies on commentaries or original language. He has been a youth pastor for many years, but if I understand correctly he has become a Pastor in only the last 1-2 years. He does the preaching every Sunday unless some special reason develops. Also, will the Leader's Base books show on his new iPad(3)? Thank you for your advise.

The payment plan might make Scholars a possibility. You might also see if other members might want to contribute to allow the purchase of one of the Scholars libraries. Either way any Logos package helps in Bible study.

One idea may be discussing potential Logos use with Pastor, to find out what resource(s) would be most useful. Another idea is talking with Logos sales about gift purpose.
Also, the Pastor and other church members may want to contribute toward a Logos purchase. Looking at comparison => http://www.logos.com/comparison noticed many features and databases need Original Languages or higher.
The Greek verbal system is more expressive than English. My favorite Logos 4 feature is visual filter highlighting of Logos Greek Morphology so can see range of verbal expression. For example, James 1 has a dozen verbs in the imperative (command) mood:
Wiki Extended Tips for Visual Filters has => Examples of visual filters that includes a screen shot with five Logos Greek Morphology visual filters and corresponding highlighting palette, which are usable in Greek and English resources with appropriate tagging (e.g. English Reverse Interlinear and Greek resources with morphological tagging).

Thank you for your suggestion. I was having an unrelated conversation with him & then I asked him if he used Bible software and he said no. Later in the day I was using my Logos and thought I should check into it as a possibility to give him because I think he would like it after reading the responses of other pastors. We don't attend this church on Sunday so I wouldn't ask other people. It would be a personal gift my husband & I would be giving to him & his family to use.
