Logos 4 intermittently hangs for approx 10 seconds every few minutes

Hi Logos Forum ...
This is my first post, and I am excited about learning and thrilled about becoming more efficient with the software.
However, when logos 4 is open, my system (OSX Lion) sometimes hangs for about 10 seconds (sometimes with the spinning wheel, others with the pointer in tact & OS seems not to respond). This is true whether or not I'm using Logos primarily or perhaps on safari or doing something else. It only happens intermittently every 5-10 mins or so. I'm not so sure if it's looking to update. When Logos 4 is closed, I never see the issue across any of the software or my network machines.
I've allowed it to index, and used the software without issue before. The issue is apparent on this machine and our other mac (and gaming system). This is leading me to believe maybe logos is doing something intense due to some setting I haven't uncovered. No problems when i am typically downloading anything outside of logos either.
I do understand Logos is intense, but I imagine my machine is capable (intel mac pro, 16 GB).
Has anyone seen this issue, or might there be something in preferences that can help me through.
Thanks so much.

Welcome
Believe more information will be required to solve this problem. Could you provide log files? See the second link in my signature for instructions.

Thanks so much for the prompt response.
I used the wiki and pulled the .logs from the "one time" logging feature. I've attached a copy of the log. Perhaps a syncing issue?
Again - appreciate your help with this.1732.Logos4 Logs - Brandon (12 May, version 1).zip

Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Feature Parity includes:
- PC Launch has option to enable diagnostic logging while command key does not enable logging on Mac – Logos 4.5b regression
Apologies: should have updated Enable Mac logging for one session earlier:
Caveat: Logos 4.5b on Mac has a regression so using command key fails to enable logging.

The zip archive has an Indexer log file that has many messages about Logging not being enabled. The Logos4Error log has a number of sync errors on 7 May and 20 Feb plus two exceptions in managed code on 12 May.
If had corresponding Logos4 log file with exceptions on 12 May, would have contextual information for managed code exceptions.
Optional: download and use 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip to display your logging setting, then change to enable logging.
- the applescript application uses the terminal commands in wiki => http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging#Mac

When Logos 4 is being non-responsive, wonder about looking at sync arrows to see if they are dark, possibly spinning. The time frame for repeating seems consistent with Logos 4 automatically syncing when Use Internet is Yes.

Observation: for many items, Logos 4.5b on Mac can effectively use one processor plus 32 bit addressing limits amount of memory usage.
Looking forward to a 64 bit Logos version on Mac; albeit have no idea when. Related thread => Logos 64 bit

I executed the terminal command for "always sync" and then ran the command that returned a '1', which I believe confirmed that logging is always on. I have since attached the "updated logs." Can you advise if that changes anything in terms of your observations?

If I were to disable the internet syncing, i assume the app would still work, just not sync across devices perhaps for the time I'm not using it? Not so sure, but just trying to interpret your comment to see if I should just hold off until a 64 bit version drops - or if there are a few threads I can still pull.
Thanks again for the help.

Concur logging is enabled, wondering about attachment(s) ?

Logos 4 does work in offline mode, which turns off syncing every few minutes plus Tools => Reading Lists becomes unavailable along with four sections in Passage Guide being unusable plus Home Page is missing items from Logos servers.
While offline, items queue for synching, except periodic snapshots of layouts. If change from offline to online, then syncing can take awhile.

Currently have no idea when for 64 bit version of Logos. Wiki Getting Started with Logos has => Learning Logos with a Tip about becoming proficient with Logos takes months of use. Personally have learned having less open is more efficient along with knowing how to quickly open items as desired.
Wonder if OS X kernel is running in 64 bit mode ? wiki Mac Troubleshooting has => Slow Performance that includes:
- Enabling Snow Leopard 64-bit kernel noticeably faster, up to 30 % - some older Mac’s and software drivers limited to 32 bit kernel
- Apple Support has 64-bit kernel frequently asked questions - third party 32-bit kernel extensions do not work when running 64-bit kernel
- Apple Support has 64-bit kernel capable Mac list - iMac (early 2008 & newer) and Mac Book Pro (early 2008 & newer) models can use 64 bit kernel, but default to 32 bit for compatibility.

Is your recommendation that I turn it off? I'm just trying to discern whether or not there's something tangible that will surely "fix" my issue until it's better understood.
Thanks again.

Looks normal plus notice sync is downloading items. Wonder if sync completes ?
Logos 4.5b SR-1 has a number of click and wait opportunities. Personally encountered many seconds of lag time between editing Highlighting Styles and Visual Filters for display on 27" iMac to be updated. Also learned about using tab key at times (e.g. after edit Highlighting Style name).

Depends on your Logos 4 Mac usage whether to work offline or online. Also depends on internet bandwidth whether online is affordable. Working offline seems to improve responsiveness for some items while lacking cloud backup of changes and sync to other Logos 4 installations on your devices.
