Can I remove "unwanted" devotionals from my homepage?

I've got my two favorite calendar devotionals prioritized and they show up first on my homepage, but "Morning and Evening" and "My Utmost for His Highest" also show up. I have nothing against either of these, but I really don't need 4 calendar devotionals on my homepage...especially because if I can remove them, it will get all the information that I want to see onto a single homepage. Is it possible to remove these two and just keep the two I want?

Have you tried hiding those you don't want? Although this seems like overkill to obtain what you want to do because then they aren't available in other parts of your library.

This does not remove the unwanted devotions. I too was wondering how to remove them from the home page because I did not want to hide the other resources(I still want to use them, just not on the home page). So I thought I would try this, and it did not work for me. I prioritized the one resource that I wanted on the home page, and the others also came up on the home page.

I've just tried a hack which I thought might work: create a couple of dummy PBs of type Calendar Devotional which contain no date milestones. Prioritize them along with the two devotionals that you do want to show up. The idea is that there would be no day in them that matches today's date, so nothing from them would show up on the home page, yet since they are prioritized they'd bump out any other devotionals that might have some content for today.
Alas, it didn't work. It might require more tweaking for a solution to emerge, but I don't have time. However maybe someone would want to play with this idea a bit more.

My Apologies [:$] mea culpa. From empirical testing using Logos 4.5c Beta 1, learned need to prioritize 7 (or more) Calendar Devotionals to avoid devotional addition(s) by Logos 4.
Personally learned that removing all Calendar Devotional resources from Library priorities, then refreshing Home Page shows 3 devotionals, including "Connect the Testaments" (# 1), which is a Faithlife resource, see => Join the Faithlife Beta! , plus "Morning and Evening" & "My Utmost for His Highest"
Prioritizing 1 calendar devotional, then refreshing Home Page shows 3 devotionals: # 1 Prioritized, "Connect the Testaments" & "Morning and Evening"
Prioritizing 2 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 4 devotionals: 2 in Prioritized order, plus "Connect the Testaments" & "Morning and Evening"
Prioritizing 3 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 5 devotionals: 3 in Prioritized order, plus "Connect the Testaments" & "Morning and Evening"
Prioritizing 4 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 5 devotionals: 4 in Prioritized order, plus "Connect the Testaments"
Prioritizing 5 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 6 devotionals: 5 in Prioritized order, plus "Connect the Testaments"
Removed all devotional priorities, then prioritized "Connect the Testaments", then refreshed Home Page to show 3 devotionals: "Connect the Testaments" , "Morning and Evening" & "My Utmost for His Highest"
Prioritizing 2 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 4 devotionals: 2 in Prioritized order followed by "Morning and Evening" & "My Utmost for His Highest"
Prioritizing 3 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 5 devotionals: 3 in Prioritized order followed by "Morning and Evening" & "My Utmost for His Highest"
Prioritizing 4 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 5 devotionals: 4 in Prioritized order followed by "Morning and Evening"
Prioritizing 5 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 6 devotionals: 5 in Prioritized order followed by "Morning and Evening"
Prioritizing 6 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 7 devotionals: 6 in Prioritized order followed by "Morning and Evening"
Prioritizing 7 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 7 devotionals: 7 in Prioritized order
Prioritizing 8 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 8 devotionals: 8 in Prioritized order
Prioritizing 9 calendar devotionals, then refreshing Home Page shows 9 devotionals: 9 in Prioritized order
Updated wiki => A Sample Prioritize List
Thankful for revamping my prioritized Calendar Devotionals (added one with original language thoughts: "More Light on the Path")
Optional: turn off Logos marketing on Home Page by checking: Devotionals, Excerpts, Release Notes, and Updated Resources (and uncheck the rest).

Thanks, Now what about those of us who only want 1 devotion on the home page?

What about just turning off the Devotionals section of the home page entirely and opening your Devotional(s) in a tab or floating window each morning (or whenever).
I tried it by creating a Devotionals layout that has just the ones I want to read in it, all linked on the same Link Set, but unfortunately when I open that it doesn't open to today's date, rather the date when I saved the Layout. However at least with them all on the same Link Set all I need to do is enter today's date in one of them and they all scroll to today's date.
A better solution I discovered is to create a Favorites folder for Devotionals and drag my favorite devotionals into it. Then when I right-click on the folder name and select "Open all" it opens them all to today's date. However they are not in a nice layout where I can see them all if there are more than 2 of them. They are tabbed in two tiles.
So pick your favorite of those two solutions. Each one has a shortcomings that is overcome by the other.

Very true. First thing first, I seldom use the homepage. I would use it more if I had more control over what is displayed. For an example. If you turn off everything, you still get items displayed on the homepage (and they are worthless imho). I would like to control everything that shows up on the homepage. This implies that we have more settings we could set, and Bob does not want to give us many options to customize L4.

Wiki has link => Submit or Vote for Logos 4 Feature Suggestions (UserVoice) so could create a suggestion for Home Page Improvements, including option to not display Logos devotional addition(s) when Library priorities have devotional resource(s).

Why don't you try it yourself and see. It would have been nearly as quick as typing a message back to me. You might be pleasantly surprised. [:)]
Incidentally, if you turn off all the checkboxes in your home page, you still get two items showing up: a random excerpt from your preferred Bible, and a random excerpt from a random Book of the Day. Those are impossible to turn off.

How about using the favorites tool and set your devotional as a bookmark. That way you can access it easily.
At least on my set-up I have to click the more button on each devotional to see the whole thing. So this is really no more work.
You could also add a shortcut to it on the short cuts area at the top of the screen.
Maybe one of these will work for you.

Thanks for the tips, but these are simply (imho) work arounds for something (homepage) that is a great idea but was poorly designed (not enough user settings).

[Y] Exactly...I want my devotionals on my homepage as it is often a reminder for me to read them. If I turned off devotionals and stuck them somewhere else, I wouldn't have that handy reminder. I also don't want to have to hide the two that I don't want on my homepage just to turn them off...I'm likely to forget that I've hidden them or that I even have them at some point down the line...especially since I have already hidden a large number of resources that I don't/can't use. I've also already turned off the portions of the homepage that I don't want...what is left is stuff that I want to see.
Is any of this terribly important? No, but it is a minor annoyance that shouldn't really exist.
Anyway, thanks for the tips everyone. I will just live with it the way it is for now and deal with a single 1/2 column of homepage info on the second page of my homepage [:)]

This is absurd! The moment we start prioritizing devotionals, the home page should show exactly those devotionals we've prioritized. No more, no less!

I already have the lectionary and a devotional in a layout, which i [hopefully] read and update each day, so those I would't mind if they disappeared from the home page. What I like to have there, though, and what doesn't fit so well in a layout, are 'Lives of the Saints' kind of resources. It's nice to be reminded, and sometimes I click the link to read some more, but I don't want to have to actively look for it, and I don't want to have to scroll through to the next date before I update.tom collinge said:Bob does not want to give us many options to customize L4.
Which is absurd! We're supposed to be intelligent enough to figure out how to use L4, in spite of the lack of manuals and some pretty awful design decisions -- but we're too stupid to check/uncheck a few more preference options???

Anyone that went to meetings where users had their Libronix's could easily see why Logos4 was designed the way it is.
Users, left to their own devices, literally ABUSE the software's look-and-feel. Icons everywhere, layouts a complete mess. Twisted option settings. Need we mention the people that CHANGE THE COLORS???
Software is a piece of ART. It's not meant for actual use. And developers are the arteeeeests. Wanting to make the software do what YOU want is (1) a slap in the face of el primo arteeeeest. And (2) simply generates extra calls to customer support to undo the damage. Hello.
My favorite is the day Bob couldn't tell which tile he was in. So they upped the contrast just a smidgen on the focus-one. I got up close with a magnifying glass to see the difference. I still have to click on the proper one before paging; else it's a massive disaster (especially when I accidentally hit the space bar and page a commentary).
