Logos 4 backup license and resources

Dear all:
I just upgraded my Logos from 3 to 4. Now my question is:
In Logos 3: C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Resources; all the books are stored in this folder and I can go to the tools--> library management/ backup license to backup or sync my license.
What about Logos 4? Where are the book resources folder located and where I can do the backup license?
Now my computer keep downloading , is it related to Logos 4 activities? (Download the books to my hard drive?)
Why Logos4 didn't show us any downloading percentage to tell us the percentage completed ...etc?
Thanks for your advance.

Basically, everything for your license is kept online. Therefore, you do not need to backup your license.Kelvin Chiu said:What about Logos 4? Where are the book resources folder located and where I can do the backup license?
Yes, L4 uses a lot bandwidth, and it takes a lot of CPU. Once you download everything, then it needs to index everything. Most people let their computer run overnight for this.Kelvin Chiu said:Now my computer keep downloading , is it related to Logos 4 activities? (Download the books to my hard drive?)
It does in the notification area (I am not sure of its real name) of windows.Kelvin Chiu said:Why Logos4 didn't show us any downloading percentage to tell us the percentage completed ...etc?

There is no way to keep a license locally?
What about the resources? It is because I want to install the Logos4 to my laptop too. If I know the resource folder then I just copy all those books resources from my desktop to the resource folder of my laptop. It saves me a lot of time to download.

A "license" is really permission to use a resource. Logos used to have codes that you had to enter, but with Logos 4 that has changed. The license for your resources is kept by Logos on their servers, but is synced with your computer so that you don't have to be online to use your resources.

Sure! You should read the wiki article on installing Logos on multiple computers: http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers

Therefore, Logos 4 has no such backup license like Logos3?
What if I don't have internet access then I cannot use Logos 4 even though I backup all my resources?

Observation: for Libronix 3, copying files into Resources folder works fine. Logos 4 is a bit different since resource files are locally indexed.
Another difference is Libronix 3 could have resource files without licenses (locked). In contrast, Logos 4 only has unlocked resources in your Logos 4 folder.

Wiki Getting Started with Logos has => Installation + Indexing
Thankful that Libronix 3.0g and Logos 4 can peacefully coexist on a Windows computer. Libronix 3 is installed once for all computer users while Logos 4 is installed for each user. If Libronix 3 is installed, when Logos 4 does resource discovery, the Libronix 3 Resources folder is searched for licensed resources, which have not been updated, then copies those resource files into your Logos 4 folder. The Logos 4 scan command causes resource discovery the next time Logos 4 is launched.

Logos 4 does not have license export/import like Libronix 3.
Once Logos 4 has downloaded your resource license information, then can use scan command (and restart Logos 4) to copy licensed resource files.
For completely offline installation, suggest contacting Logos Tech Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact
Note: Logos has updated several thousand Libronix resource files for use in Logos 4.

No. It works differently.

I didn't say that.

You do have to be online at some point to sync the license, but once the sync / verification has occurred, you no longer have to be connected.

Logos 4 has a program setting: "Use Internet" that can be set to No after installation is done so Logos 4 can be used offline all the time.
Also, Logos 4 has a launch option so can choose "Work Offline": launch Logos 4, then quickly press and hold control key until sign-in appears, release control key, then click Work Offline.
While offline, a number of features are unavailable: Passage Guide has 4 .com sections, Reading Lists, sync, social networking, community notes, and resource/program updates.

If you use one of the Quick Installation methods (1 or 2) you are backing up and restoring both the license file and resources + additional files like documents and indexes that are essential to a "quick" installation of Logos 4. There is no point backing these individually due to the different installation/sync requirements of L4.

There are ways to do this offline (see other posts), but it is a lot easier just to install L4 on all of your computers, and let them download and sync your resources. L4 uses a lot of bandwidth.
