Setting "Top Bibles" on iPad/iPhone: Potential Solution
I think I tripped upon a way to set the "Top Bibles" (for the purposes of search) in the iPad app even though the syncing isn't yet working.
Just iterate through each Bible that you want to be a "Top Bible" and set each as your preferred Bible (leaving your real preferred Bible as the last one). After iterating through all five of your preferred Bibles, you should find that the "Top Bibles" is now set to the last five that you selected. You can verify which are your top five using biblia.com (at least Biblia represented my top Bibles so far). Log in and click the down arrow next to the text of the book, the list of books at the top should represent your top Bibles:
I performed a search on my iPad confirmed that the search now matches those listed in Biblia.com when I select "Top Bibles."

- in the iPad app: go to "More" > "Preferred Bible"
- Set the preferred Bible to one of your top 5 Bibles
- Repeat step 2 for your 4 other Bibles that want to be considered your "Top Bibles" (you will probably want to leave you favorite Bible as the last one you set so that it stays as your preferred Bible).
- Optional: Log into Biblia.com and click the down arrow next to the name of the book to see which Bibles are now set as your preferred Bibles; this will confirm that your selection worked.

Once you do this, when you do text compare, it will use those five translations.

Thanks for this Lucas, but could you give this to us in laymen's terms? Are you in Logos 4 or on your iPad when you choose preferred Bible? Where do I go to find my "top Bibles" or "preferred Bibles"? You then completely lost me in Biblia.com. Finally then, if I set them this way, how do I quickly switch from bible to bible on my iPad? Sorry to be so obtuse.

Sorry for the confusion. I only mentioned Biblia.com because it provided a way to determine what Bibles are considered the "Top Bibles". Below are the specific steps:

Donn - The reason that Lucas' suggestion is so good is because it bypasses the intended (but unfunctioning) way to set the top Bibles. You are supposed to be able to set your top bibles in L4 (prioritization in the library) and these preferences sync to the iPad. Unfortunately this isn't an area which has migrated to the new sync infrastructure.
To add just a little to what Lucas said, I went into L4 to see what my preferred bibles were. I then followed the solution Lucas provided, but I reversed the order of my prioritized Bibles. This gave me my top 5 in the correct order since each time I switched the preferred Bible, the previous one went down a notch.

To set your "preferred" bible, go to "more" - "settings" - "preferred bible". Repeat this five times, starting with your 5th choice, finishing with your number 1 choice. Once you have done this, "text comparison" will show you your chosen passage in these five translationship (your "top" bibles).
how do I quickly switch from bible to bible on my iPad?
There isn't really a "quick switch" feature. You change your bible through the library.

For now, it looks like I will have to continue to use Olive Tree for church and preaching and teaching. It is sooooo much easier to navigate. I am not going to buy resources on a second platform however (beyond a few Bibles). My Logos on iPad will continue to be merely an e-reader. Do the powers that be at Logos read these threads? Certainly they must know what the competition is doing. How do we appeal for a more user friendly interface?
How does one search in a specific Bible? I want to search my preferred Bible - all that I see is possible is my "Top Bibles" and then I have to search through the results to find hits in my preferred Bible.
I have my preferred Bible designated preferred.
Also, how does one make Top Bibles reflect the priority designated in Logos 4. For example I want to search my top Bibles, but I want the NASB results, then the ESV, etc. Is that possible.

That's the point of this thread! Since it doesn't sync yet, you need to follow the instructions in this thread. Here is what I wrote above:

I went through the process of my preferred bible five times. I then entered the word propitiation and did search and it appeared in three of the bibles. I selected my preferred, highlighted the word "propitiation" asked it to search and it came back with all my bible including the Tanakh. When I touched the Top Bibles button, the selection indicated my Top Bibles were selected but that was not the case in the search results.
I want to be able to do a search in the NASB only. Either by enterering the search term in the search box or highlighting the word and selecting search.
Any help would be appreciated!

If the first step worked, when you go to the search page, in the center is a button for collections. It may say "top bibles" or something similar. NOTE: make sure that "bible search" is selected on the left. (The darker button is "selected." ) Once you have made sure of these things, push the collections button. Does the NASB appear as a choice? After I went through this process, I now have collections for all of my top five translations, and they were NOT there before I did this. I am on a beta build, but I don't think that should matter in this case.

Joe - I almost forgot… you should have chosen the NASB as your preferred bible LAST. Is that what you did?

Your fix is brilliant! I've had problems with syncing Text Comparisons among my Mac devices (iMac, iPhone and iPad) for a long time. It's been a priority to have these Text Comparisons sync up properly - and now they do thanks to you. Thank you very much!

Luke, this might be a dumb question, but I cannot find "more." Can you tell me where it is?
Welcome to the forums! In the navigation pane (the panel that appears on the left when you click the top left button), you will see a Home button. Press that to get to the Home page. From there, press the gear icon on the top right (replaced the More button).
Unfortunately, none of this seems to work anymore. It's very frustrating to not be able to do something as simple as searching a particular version of the Bible. If you do a basic search and specify which resources to search, that will work, but it really shouldn't be this hard.
