iOS 2.1.4 on iPad still crashing when trying to sync
My PC version is 4.5b SR1.
After updating from 2.0.2 to 2.1.4, my first gen iPad keeps crashing when trying to sync. The only way to stop it crashing is to put it in airplance mode. Previously I upgraded to 2.1.3 and it keeps crashing so I reverted back to 2.0.2.
After upgrading to 2.1.4, it was stable for a while until I did the following:
I've two personal palettes: "Glow markup" with over 19,000 notes (let's call it palette A) and "Gerard" with over 14,000 notes (let's call it palette . A is an old palette and has not been used recently and it has synced for the first time! B is my current palette and has never been synced once. Previously 2.0.2 created a note file "Gerard (2)" and it synced one way (iPad to PC but not the other way). Because my B palette highlights are not syncing, on the PC I transferred the highlights from "Gerard (2)" to "Gerard" and then deleted "Gerard (2)" on the PC and I think on the iPad too. Now B palette will not sync. "Gerard (2)" is never created again. "Gerard" note file is created when I try to highlight with B palette but there is no syncing. Now iPad 2.1.4 keeps crashing after a min when trying to sync.
If any of you has similar problem, could you share with me?
Kevin Byford, after sending you the size of my notes.db, is there any news from the programmers?
Thanks.

Gerard -- I too have been having syncing problems with some personal palettes. Tech support is looking at my logs, and may also be logging into my account to "see what they can see," so to speak (I gave my approval). If you want, PM me and I'll tell you the name of the tech support rep; as these may be related types of bugs the same techs/programmers may want to look at your issue as well.

Hi Gerard,
There are still issues syncing large notes files on 1st Generation iPads although headway has been made with the latest iPads. We are still working on a solution.

Kevin,
Latest update: I reinstall 2.1.4 and redownload my books and highlight syncing is now working perfectly on my 1st gen iPad. Thanks Logos!
Not all ratings and tags are synced however. I tried to use tags to choose which books to download on my iPad. I used tags iPad1, iPad2, iPad3, iPad4, iPad5 and iPad6 to classify the urgency of download. When I just type "iPad" it says there are only 384 resources. I kept forcing iPad to sync for 2 days and it still reported the same no. of resources. On my PC, it says 1,196 resources. Ratings are also not synced for many resources.

When you type iPad1, what kind of results do you get? Also, is it possible that those missing books are not mobile enabled? At first glance it seems unlikely, but I guess it is a possibility.

The difference in the total no. of resources on my PC and iPad is only 207. "iPad1" on both iPad and PC shows 217 resources. "iPad4" shows 323 on my PC and zero on my iPad. "iPad5" shows 422 on PC and only 2 on iPad. "iPad6" shows 62 on PC and zero on iPad. "iPad2" shows 26 on PC and 25 on iPad. "iPad3" shows 146 on PC and 140 on iPad. The total on iPad for "iPad" is correct (384).
I'm aware that there are missing books on the iPad but the difference is too great. Hence it can only be syncing of tags (and ratings).

…or a bug in searches. Have you checked an "iPad 6" resource manually to see if the tag has been applied? Since there are none appearing, it should be simple to find just one resource. FYI - If you didn't know, the tags should appear under the book cover in the resource info panel.

On the iPad, "iPad6" does not appear on the resource info panel. I checked a couple of books. I don't use tags for searches but for displaying selected books in my library. (BTW, I learn about this use of tag from you. Thanks for the tip.)

So the iPad6 tag does not show up, but some of the other tags (i.e. iPad2) do? (just checking).
BTW, I learn about this use of tag from you. Thanks for the tip.
You are welcome. [:)] In case others see this thread, I created a screen shot from my iPhone. Notice that my "MyTag's" (Vyrso & Family) are listed under the book cover. This is a new feature and requires that both desktop & mobile apps be up to date. The syntax (i.e. MyTag:Family) does not work currently, but I hope the developers will add it in the future. In the meantime, you can still search for books with a MyTag… you will just pull up any other book with the tag in the title, subject, author, etc. To avoid this, you can create unique MyTag's like Gerard did. An example would be HistoryAnabaptist (no space).

I have the same problem on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4. It doesn't sync metadata of any books. It does only after I totally uninstall Logos from my device and then install it again. After it downloads all the synced information, I can see all the current Metadata (the tags, rating etc.)
When I add some other ratings or tags then wait for syncing, close the application on the iPad so that it restarts, the download circle works just for a while and disappears. No new ratings or tags are synced anymore. Highlightings and other notes are synced normally though.
Any solution?

close the application on the iPad so that it restarts
Bohuslav - Do you mean you close the app via the multi-task bar?
Do you have very large note files? Have you watched the app file size to see if it is growing?
Also, what version of the desktop & mobile apps are you using?

Yes Alabama. When I say I closed the application, I mean to "kill" it by the task bar (double click of the button etc.).
Yes, I have large note files but they sync, no problem. The metadata (as I said) also sync, but only after a fresh install (not just an update with a newer version). They sync just once. Then they stay the same, although other stuff sync normally.
I have the latest Beta on the PC L 4.5c Beta 3 (4.53.0.2109) and the latest version of the iOS 2.1.4.

the latest version of the iOS 2.1.4.
Actually, 2.1.5 was released last week. Try updating and see if it helps anything. If not, it appears that you may have discovered something new.
Yes, you are right. I looked at my iPhone and there I still have 2.1.4. but my iPad is having 2.1.5. already (that's why I was sure I upgraded recently). Sorry for the mistake in communication and thanks for your answer.
The problem is the same on both devices (even iPad has the newest version). I am going to update iPhone and will see what happens.
EDITED: I updated also iPhone and the problem continues on both devices.

Hi Bohuslav,
Thanks for the report, I'll try to reproduce this issue tomorrow. Please feel free to create new threads if it makes sense. For example, "BUG: Tags and ratings don't sync properly" would be a great new thread for your issue since it's unrelated to sync crashes. Sometimes things get lost in the forums and I'm trying to prevent that. Thanks!

OK, I will do that. I mentioned my problem here because it looked to me related to the issue Gerard wrote about in his last post. (I am on my iPad and quotes are not working well here, sorry for that.)
