Ver 1.0.3 Comments

I just received version 1.0.3 from the Amazon App Store as an upgrade.  My initial comments from using my Kindle Fire:

1. Bible index blocks are too small and use a light font on light backgrounds.  They should be enlarged and use a black font on light backgrounds.  Preferably they should fill the entire Kindle Fire screen.

2. Bible text for low light levels are fine.  However, for normal light levels the fonts are grey on an off white background.  They should be dark black on a very light background for legibility.

3. Reading plans are there but one's own notes are not there.  Our own notes are critical and should be implemented as soon as possible.  Perhaps, descriptive tags could be allowed for notes so we could group and find them in related concepts.

4. Locating resources is difficult except by going to the history icon.  Resources should be divided into: bibles, dictionaries, commentaries, other books.  Downloaded books should be prominently displayed and separated from non-downloaded books.

5. Searches should be available offline as well as online.  Since I am now at home and connected to WiFi I was not yet able to test this.

6. I like the idea that I return to the place and the book I left off when starting again.

7. The History button should be elevated to the top of the Menu items displayed since it now is the most important link to our downloaded resources.

8. When we pull up a new Bible, it would be nice if it opened at the same verse as the previous Bible.

9. My conclusion is that 1.0.3 is a huge improvement over 0.9.4.  Keep it up lads.  I can now use it in personal reading and in bible studies again.  The only problem  now is I still have to use AcroBible to see my personal notes and for offline searches on the Kindle Fire.  Hopefully, that won't be necessary for too much longer.

Points 1 & 2 highlight the issue that Logos "broke" what was good about v 0.9.4 and complaints about the poor contrast were ignored.

Points 4 & 7 express my desire that version 1 should have included Library filtering. Logos threw in a Favorites feature, perhaps as a bridge, but it is a poor implementation as all your books go into one folder.

I like that "Favorites" link.  I never noticed it before.  I will use it until notes on the android app are implemented.  Its better than no way at all to identify favorite passages.

I also noticed under "Actions" or "More" there is a link to "Comparisons."  That gives a link to all other downloaded bibles for the same verse.  I never noticed that before either.  That answers my point 8 in the original post of this thread.  However, since that function is done on the Logos servers, it will not be usable offline.  That should be corrected to work locally instead.

This is also available by just "swiping up" on a verse

That gives a link to all other downloaded bibles for the same verse.

The Bibles used are actually your highest prioritised Bibles and do not depend on whether they are downloaded or not.

I have added categories such as you mention on my desktop: Grammars, Dictionaries, etc. When I access "favorites" on my Android device, the listed of favorites show up. I can then select what I need. It is a good way to organize your most used volumes and access them quickly.

How does one add entire books to Mobile Favorites on the desktop?

It's the same as adding to any folder on the desktop - select the folder and drag the resource into it.

I opened Favorites \ Mobile Favorites on the L4 window.  Then I opened Easton's Bible Dictionary.  I can find no way to copy it from its tabs into the Mobil Favorites folder.  How does one do this exactly?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

I also noticed in the Logos App on the Kindle Fire, if I type a word into the box at the top of the page in a dictionary, it will not search for the word. Instead I must tap the contents icon next to the world entry box and drill down to the letter and then the word.

In the AcroBible App for the Kindle Fire, I can type the word into the box and it will find it.  I do not have to drill down from the table of contents there.  Plus, their Dictionary and Commentaries have separate tabs in the Menu and I don't have to use a history tab to find them.  Logos needs some improvements there.

The action is drag and drop  the resource tab with the mouse.

    Logos is limited!

I can drag and drop a resource tab to another location in the tab sequence but NOT into the Mobile Favorites.  However, I was able to look up just one word in each dictionary and add it to Favorites in the Android App.  Then I can rapidly get to those dictionaries by opeing Favorites.

You have to select the Favorites folder first and drop onto it.

I don't use mobile favorites. My desktop favorites show up when I select favorites on my Android devices. Both my Droid and my Kindle Fire work fine this way. I select a book in favorites, the device loads it and I am able to read, search or whatever the functinn of the particular book is. Only problems I have had has been when I select a book that does not work in the Android App.
