Hi Kevin. Welcome to the forums!
I have downloaded the iphone app..how do I sync with my pc
You need to enter your account username & password. Sync is automatic. Are you up to date with Logos for your computer? (what version are you using)?
what will be synced.
A number of things, including:
- Reading plans (for resources that are mobile enabled)
- Favorites (for resources that are mobile enabled)
- Highlight notes
- Notes attached to selections
- Notes attached to references
- MyTags

Thanks....kept looking for syncing button but could not find one. Nice to know it is automatic. I am using 4.5b

That was what I needed to know. You should be good to go.
FYI - the sync isn't always persistent, but it does sync every time the app is opened cold. If you are new to iOS, make sure you lear about the multi task bar. Sometimes you will need to "kill" the app, which actually closes the app rather than just "suspends" it. Feel free to come back if you have more questions.

You said that Notes attached to selections and references, but independent are not attached? Can I infer that from your list? What tags and where do you see them?

In L4, when you add a note from a resource, it "attaches" either to a resource via "selection" or to a "reference." Highlights are notes of "selection" by definition. (A commonly asked question is "can I create a highlight to appear across all translations?"… the answer is no). Notes that are by "selection" will show up ONLY in the particular resource used (i.e. they are "attached" to the resource). Notes that are by "reference" (see first screen shot) will show up in ANY versified resource (i.e. NIV & ESV).
In the second screen shot, I show a junk note file that I use to experiment with. Notice that you can add a note to the note file via the "add note" button. These type of notes are unattached. They are NOT notes of "selection," nor are they notes by "reference."
In the mobile app, the only way to create or view notes is by attachment (via "selection" or "reference"). You view notes by clicking on a note indicator or highlight from within a resource (see screen shot 3). You CANNOT create an unattached note (as you can do in the note file from within L4), nor can you view such a note.
What tags and where do you see them?
MyTag's are created in L4, and only recently sync with the mobile app. Currently, they are not as useful as they could be, because you can't use a "MyTag" syntax to find books. In the screen shot below, I have two "MyTag's" applied: Vyrso and Family. In the library search panel, you can use these MyTags to search, but some might be almost worthless since results would be produced with any resource with the MyTag term in the name, author, subject etc. If you use a more unique MyTag, you will be more successful in producing accurate results. For example, History would be less useful than HistoryAnabaptist. I hope that MyTag syntax is added so that you could do a search such as MyTag:Family which would produce only hits for resources tagged as Family rather than other books with "family" in the title, subject, author, or publisher field.

That was excellent and a big thank you! On this topic, how did you add my tags in L4? I looked in the Library to see if it s there, but could not find an easy way to add them. Maybe it is so simple, I just missed it. :-)
