I was wondering if the Biblical People function of Logos 4 Windows is something that I can edit. I am not in agreement with some of the choices that Logos has made for us and I'd like to modify mine if it is possible.
Thank you
It doesn't seem to be editable or maintained. A correction was sent in over two years ago about Hosea's children.

I am wondering if you could provide an example of what do you disagree with?
Thank you for that information. I'll use perhaps Visio or some other software to make my charts then. Too bad Logos has chosen to make this set in stone and in my opinion, incorrect.
I do not believe that Cain is Adam's son.
I can certainly provide an example that I disagree with:
OK, so now I have two that I disagree with. Thanks for pointing this one out.
OK. I'll bite. Whose son is he?

Gen 4:1
Cain and Abel were born at the same time, as is evidenced by the fact that they brought their offerings to the Lord at the same time. Satan seduced Eve and Eve carried Cain and at the same time she had relations with Adam and carried Abel.
God created men and women on the sixth day. After that He rested. After that He decided to make a farmer. The people of the sixth day were not farmers or husbandmen. Satan seduced Eve and Cain was the result. This is why Adam and Eve had aprons to cover their private parts and why women were given to pain in childbirth. Cain is NOWHERE listed in all of God's Word as being Adam's son. Cain's lineage is listed after Adam's lineage. Satan did this to try to adulterate the seedline in which Christ would come through. This act also served as an example to Satan's fallen angel buddies in Genesis 6 to come to earth and have their way with the daughters of Adam, resulting in only Noah's family having a clean pedigree. Cain went on to marry one of the women of the sixth day creation of men and women.
Go read the parable of the tares. After Christ gave the parable of the tares He explained it to His disciples. A parable explained is no longer a parable.
Try reading Genesis using the Hebrew text and not some translation. It might make more sense to you then.

Ok, I am game. I read this and see no Scriptures that demonstrate what you say, care to add some...?
Are you quite unable to read all of Genesis chapters 1 through 6? Can you not locate the parable of the tares without assistance?
WOWZA....

As I had stated earlier, I was simply looking to see if the Biblical People feature was editable as I find this to be in error. You asked.
I got the answer to my question and will move forward with using Visio or another diagramming program instead of the Biblical People feature of Logos. I'm not here to give Bible lessons.

It's been a while since I've run across the 'Serpent Seed' doctrine. And I agree that you didn't ask to be attacked and were only responding to someone's inquiry as to which Biblical People chart you disagreed with.
However, I can't let this very condescending comment go. This is very typical of the supporters of this doctrine. Such a minute group of supporters for this racist based doctrine... everyone else is Kenite. It's a shame.

Who said that I am a racist or that I adhere to any doctrine other than what is stated in the Word of God? You are the one that is taking Truth and saying that it is evil. Take a few minutes and ponder over that.

Perhaps you'd like to argue your point with Father about this. In Genesis 3:15 God is speaking to Satan. Just who is "thy seed"?
Genesis 3:15 (AV)
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
While you're at it, check out the seven churches in the book of Revelation. Christ finds fault with five of them and no fault with two of them, Go read and see what Smyrna & Philadelphia know that you obviously do not know. It seems to me that you should listen to Christ when choosing a church.
Please, no theological conversations here. If we look (and it would not be hard), we can find different understandings of scripture with everyone within the forums.
Cain and Abel were born at the same time, as is evidenced by the fact that they brought their offerings to the Lord at the same time.[..]
Dealing with just the first infraction:
This statement indicates that Cain and Able were twins. But the verse that brings forth Cain bears no indication that Abel was born at the same time, thus being twins. Also, there is no further indication that they both brought their offerings at the same time proving that they were/are twins, making a connection of the birth of either to that of the offering - at the same time of either is purely speculative
But I am open for Scriptural support from you that they were......
Tom. would you be so kind as to explain to me how discernment of Cain and Abel has any theological ramifications that would lead to theology?
Thanks.
It doesn't seem to be editable or maintained.
I know that they continue to work on the Biblical Facts databases. The recent system setting for canon was explained to be in support of additions to these datbases.

In the Hebrew there is a direct connotation that they were of the same age due to them bringing their offerings to the Lord at the same time.
As well, your hostile attitude puts me in the position of not casting pearls before swine. Do you want a scriptural reference for that?
Why is it that you assume that you are the one with eyes to see and ears to hear? It seems to me that you stand in the large gate. It's the small one that you're supposed to be looking for. Get a clue.
Is this sentence some kind of Möbius strip expressed in words?
Why is it that you assume that you are the one with eyes to see and ears to hear?
Talking to me? If so, the question contains an incorrect assumption.[:P] On the other hand, if you wish to point out that logic is not the primary factor of importance in life, I'll agree. Unfortunately, for me, my mind is finely tuned to the running of truth tables. Ask anyone who's worked with me.[8-|] There are multiple fallacies put forth by multiple posters in this thread. I carefully do not point out which fallacies earned my icon.

You are funny. But reality teaches that it takes 9months, to a year, for childbearing…..even in the Hebrew, this would not be avoided yet understood. Nothing hostile, but yes a Scriptural reference to show that they were twins would be nice, or one that depicts they were of the same age.....again this leads to speculation. But this is nothing new and I have heard it before, the same question was put to them as well.
We do maintain the people diagrams, but we haven't shipped an update in a while. We expect to update the Hosea diagram and a few other errors with the 4.6 update.
No, the diagrams are not intended to be editable. We try to represent a consensus view, but that means not everybody agrees with every detail.
Hopefully Sean's response has answered the primary purpose of this thread. Please remember our forum guidelines, as a few posters have mentioned we don't want theological discussions or controversial discussions going on here. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/10072.aspx
Thank you.

Sean, thanks for the response. I'm looking forward to the update!

I was a bit hasty, I'm looking forward to the 4.6 release.
We try to represent a consensus viewSean, I am going to call you out on this. The perpetual virginity of Mary is held by more people than just the RC church. Therefore, I would say that you are currently displaying a minor view within Christianity as it relates to Jesus and his "brothers."
Whichever view is the minor one, this is almost certainly the diagram that represents the widest disagreement. In the 4.6 release we plan to provide an alternate diagram of the Hieronymian view for just this reason.

What a coincidence; this is also the reason firetrucks are red.

I'm sorry that you're Biblically illiterate. Try reading something besides the back of a cereal box and commentaries.

You do know that it is possible for a woman to carry offspring of different fathers at the same time, do you not? Try brushing up on your vast knowledge of how this all works.

Cool deal. So incorrect is the way Logos is going to run with. Good to know.

777, This is interesting. It took you almost a week to come up with a reply that doesn’t address my comment, and at the same time avoid any usage of Scripture to support your view or to collaborate your statement concerning the same.
I didn't feel the need to come back at all to address anything for you, truth be told. I just felt sorry for you because you did not know that a woman can be pregnant by two different men at the same time. I believe that's all I bothered to point out. I hope that you at least learned something there. No, I don't have a scriptural reference for that either.
Okay folks, time to move the discussion to www.faithlife.com. Setup a group and discuss it there. Sign in with Logos email address and password.

Yes, the weather is rather balmy this time of year, yet having a nurse practioner in the family is always a confronting thought. Maybe we can see the favorite win the crown and all the parishners will donate to fix the roof, the fence does need mending now that you mention it I did see a couple of Guinnea's looking to roost there, perhaps we should let the stock loose and chase them down to the creek to filter out the fish that keep getting through the bayou blind.
May be then we can get to the root of the problem and decipher which species of gopher it is that keeps eating the dandelions that keep winding around the mailbox that sits next to the pansy patch. My aren't they darling, the way that the meddle with the coloured greens............

This is just more of the same babble (confusion) that you've been spewing. I do not feel the need to address this or you.
For the benefit of those that have actually read this thread and the point that I brought up about Cain and Abel being born at the same time may wish to direct their attention to the Word of God and away from the foolishness that Room4More seems to feel is appropriate.
In Genesis 4:2 we read this:
וַתֹּ֣סֶף לָלֶ֔דֶת אֶת־אָחִ֖יו אֶת־הָ֑בֶל וַֽיְהִי־הֶ֙בֶל֙ רֹ֣עֵה צֹ֔אן וְקַ֕יִן הָיָ֖ה עֹבֵ֥ד אֲדָמָֽה׃
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the original Hebrew and rely upon translations we'll have the AV:
The Hebrew word that is translated to the English word "again" in this verse means that she continued in labor. Cain and Abel were born during the same birthing period and offered their offerings to the Lord at the same time.
I was of the mind to cease and desist with my involvement in this thread, having received my answer, but the incessant foolery of this individual made it important for me to address this here so that people will not see that babble (confusion) will ever have the upper hand to Truth. With that, I'm done with this thread and the rudeness that people that follow the traditions of man over the Word of God have displayed. People had better become aware that rightfully dividing the Word of God may put you out far away from the mainstream but I'd rather be there than be a manpleaser, especially when the mainstream is about a thousand miles off target.
Genesis 4:2 (AV)
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
[quote]
Using the Bible Word Study feature in Logos 4 reveals that "continued" is only ONE of several glosses for that Hebrew word. It is clear from other uses of this word (even within early chapters of Genesis) that "repeated" or "consecutive" ideas are communicated.
I do not expect to convince either Room4more or 777; but wish to encourage other readers of this thread that the tools provided in Logos 4 allow each of us to do word study in Hebrew as we consider the interpretation suggested in this thread.

Yes, the babble fits just ever so perfectly, don't you agree. that was only the beginning............."Satan seduced Eve and Cain was the result." does this mean that Cain was part serpent? and was half man and half serpent...??

Thank you David for a good post.

While considering - consider this:
Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch <5060> it, lest ye die.
5060.
Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Matthew 13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: 35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. 37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
