A few ideas for the iPhone/iPad development... make a good app a useful and excellent app.
I was hoping if this has not already been started, that would do a
thread to discuss our wish list and give some thought to them. I have
made suggestions using my votes, but I think a well thought out
discussion might help us think through what would be really useful to
many folks. Also, I think it would help me focus my votes for new
features in a better way once it has been discussed.
On that note, here is my list:
1. Better download management of my library (to control what can be dowloaded in a better manner)
2. Change the font style on the iPhone (we need Arial!)
3. Better navigation of history
4. Book mark for pages I go to or need to go to or want to remember
5. View Prayer list in Home Page
6. For the Home Page to be
functional (i.e. Prayer List, Default Bibles, 1-3 Red Ribbon Saves,
only show wanted devotionals, etc.)
7. Show categories, Tags, etc.
of Library references for quicker choices or to have a top 5 or top 10
resources to choose from or to do a quick switch with.
8. Bible Word Study - allow for pop ups of information or to be able to navigate back to it quickly.
I
am sure there are other and even better ideas, but I would love to hear
what others want. These are a few things I think would make a good
start app a very useful app. I find the navigation a bit kludgy and
slow when listening to sermons. I use my iPhone and iPad exclusively
for church and not longer carry a hardback bible with me.

Blasphemy! Surely you must mean Helvetica?

Better navigation of history
I'm not sure if you know this already, but if you hold the back button down, it will bring up a history. I think it works well now.
Book mark for pages I go to or need to go to or want to remember
This already exists as "Favorites." New "favorites" are added to a folder called "Mobile Favorites" and currently organization has to be done within L4 (You can organize the favorites however you like, into folders etc.). NOTE: This doesn't work for Vyrso resources, but that is a resource issue, not a mobile app one.

Perhaps you can explain how this would work a bit more. FYI - you can already filter the library and do a "download all"

BURN HIM AT THE STAKE! (sorry Robert )
I just about fell out of my chair at work laughing.... that was funny. I am sure some folks would tell you the dangers and perils of the Serif and San Serif... I am a pan-Serif... I like whatever is available as long as it is clear and legible. [;)]
I guess one could say I have a Augustonian view of fonts... in all things charity.

Excellent... No, I did not know this. Thank you!

Okay, I see this, but it would be nice if there was a quick single and quickly accessible button for this... something intuitive.

We can add tags to resources in L4, and they can be seen in the iPhone/iPad app; however, we cannot leverage this information for aggregating or grouping the information. If we could, then this could be leveraged for better presentation, download management, or navigation of resources in my humble opinion.

I can filter to one or a type of resources, but it is very limited. Sometime, I would like to download all of my mobile used resources. This may more than one type of resource and I can only filter by one thing at a time, correct? If I could use tags as noted above, then I could download all of my mobile resources that I use on my iPhone/iPad app when in church or traveling and away from my computer. Again, it would allow for easier management of the resources in my opinion.

Correct, but why not add a tag to all your mobile used resources in L4 and then search your iOS Library by that tag and download all?

Robert - forgive me, but I am on my iPad and can't easily quote you...
About favorites - there are two ways to add to favorites. First is through the "star" menu button. The other way, which is a little simpler when you are reading, is the upward swipe. This will bring up a simple "add to favorites" and "share" buttons.
About downloads &tags - I agree, and think this might come sooner than later. MyTags are just recently syncing. It would be nice if you could use the syntax: edition:e AND mytag:mobile

That is a good suggestion, but only works perfectly if the mytag is unique enough. "History" would be no good, nor would "anabaptist," but "historyanabaptist" would work fine. The mytags have to be unique because the mobile app doesn't currently have syntax to search for mytags. As it is now, a search for "history" would pull up any resources with "history" in the metadata, not just in the mytag.

For this use a cryptic tag that would not appear in titles or authors names would be good.

WOW!!!! The tags work for searching now! Perfect. This is what I was looking for. Now I can tag my iPhone resources and filter by them and then download all. This is a feature that was not working 2.1.4... or I just did not know how to do it! Very cool. This works very nicely. I tagged the resources I wanted to see on my iPhone with 'iPhone' and then filtered by 'iPhone' to display them. Then I could download all. Nice.

I am not sure I understand this. What does this do and how do you propose it works? What is an edition:e and a mytag:?

I am not sure I understand this. What does this do and how do you propose it works? What is an edition:e and a mytag:?
There are three types of books available in Logos formats:
- Logos formatted
- Vyrso formatted
- Personal
They are of type (respectively):
- Logos
- eBook
- User Created
So the filter "edition:e" is an abbreviation for "edition:ebook" and represents those resources which are Vyrso formatted
"Mytag" relates to tags which you have added in your Logos4 library
So this would be a combination of them both
Hope this helps
Graham

I gave you syntax for a hypothetical search based upon some of the things you wrote earlier.
- edition:e or edition:ebook filters for Vyrso books. This syntax works currently. If you have downloaded any Vyrso books, try it.
- mytag:mobile would (or should) be the syntax for finding books with a "MyTag" of "mobile"
By combining the two with AND you would pull up a list of all Vyrso books with a MyTag of "mobile" and ONLY resources that fit those criterion.
EDIT: Beat me to it Graham. [:)]

I want the app to keep 2-3 recently used note files at the top of the list of documents, with the rest alphabetized as is currently done. This would allow me to take notes more quickly.
I couldn't agree more. With a note file for each book my list is becoming rather cumbersome. It would be nice to choose between viewing a list of note files alphabetically or by "most recent."

So are you saying you can view your notes somewhere besides the place in the text that they are located right now? Sorry if that is dumb question, but I have been surprised many times in the Logos iPhone app recently.

Notes on the mobile app are viewable ONLY through the resource they are attached to. Similarly, the only kinds of notes the mobile app can create are ATTACHED notes.
What Ron & I are talking about are NOTE FILES. As far as the mobile app goes, note files are meaningless… they only have meaning in L4. However, when you create a note on your mobile device, you still need to decide which note folder to put them in. I am rambling here a bit, sorry. What I am trying to say is that if someone NEVER uses L4, they could probably forget about note files and set up all notes to go into the same folder. Since Ron and I have created tons of note folders (I create a new one for every book I highlight in), navigating the note folder menu can become cumbersome. If you have two resources open (split panel) and are moving between the two documents, you will be continually switching note files, so getting to the one you want more easily would be a blessing. "Sort by Recent" as an option would keep the most recently used note files at the top, hence a GREAT idea! [:)] NOTE: this could not replace sort by title, otherwise you would never find your older note files!
