Notes - Best Practices for my situation?

I'm new to notes and highlighting. I've read the wikis, but wanted to see if any pros had advice on best practice for what I want to accomplish.
I'm reading a book on my iPad. I want to collect all the really good parts of the book so that I can quickly reference them later. Here is my process:
- Chose a consistant highlight style
- Create a "note" file for the book
- Highlight all the stuff in the book that stands out to me.
Problems I'm encountering:
- In the "notes" file in Logos 4, the "full" view doesn't show the entire text highlighted (just one line). Reveals the whole things when I click the text (it expands). Any way to just show all the content?
- The "link" reference is strange. Instead of showing resource/page number, it shows (in some cases) book title, and in other cases, it shows a Bible reference. I would prefer that it show resource and page number (or something similar). Is that possible?
- When exporting, no page numbers or anything of the highlighted text is included. That would be AMAZINGLY helpful.
Ultimately, I want to mark up my resource and be able to generate a document that has all the "highlights", with resource and page references. Is that possible? Is there a better tool than highlighting? Clippings may work? One key is that I need to do most of the reading/highlighting on my iPad.
Any advice?

Just a quick reply. Playing with clippings a little bit and that is the functionality I want, but I want to also use highlighting... and my iPad.
Perfect world:
I highlight something on my iPad and it creates a clipping into an assigned clippings file. Doesn't seem like that is possible. Any ideas how to hack a system together?

1. If you want the entire text quoted, and you would like to also make notes on it, I would use the "Clippings" feature. This copies the entire highlighted text, and allows you to make notes underneath it. You can even play with the formatting of the text. If you want that same text highlighted just have the highlight panel open and just the color you want to use.
2. No, this is not possible. The Notes feature most accurately mimics a sticky pad that you would make notes on and put in the book itself. The link in the notes will take you to where you made that note. This is also why you don't see us quoting your entire highlighted bit of text when you make a note on selection. You wouldn't repeat the entire chunk of text in your sticky bad note in a physical book.
3. Exporting Clippings provides bibliographic information under each "clipping".
We aren't at this time syncing clippings with the iOS app, so I don't if Clippings would work better for you but I think it pretty much does what you want except automatically highlight text and sync to the iOS app.

You beat my long post with your quick reply. Sorry for the lag [:)]

Thanks Tommy.
Notes and clippings and highlighting seem to have a lot of overlapping functionality.
It would be cool if there was an automagical way to create a clippings document from a highlighter style (sort of like what you can do with verse lists).

There is a bug in the iOS app. When you highlight using the mobile app, it actually DOES give the entire quote in the L4 note file when viewed in "full" view. I would not trust this method though. One thing to keep in mind: The line that you are using to read the quote isn't actually the note, but the TITLE of the note. When you highlight in a resource, an EMPTY note is created with a truncated quote as the title. You can change the title to anything you want.

Let me give you a walk through:
Here is an example of some highlighted text in L4:
The note appears in the chosen note file with a truncated quote as the title.
As you can see, the note file is actually EMPTY or BLANK:
Again, the truncated quote is just the note TITLE. You can change it to anything you want:
If you copy the highlighted text, you can paste it into the note field:
A highlight created with the mobile app does NOT create a truncated quote as a title, but uses the entire text. This is a BUG in the sense that it is not working as Logos has intended it to do (perhaps because of hardware limitations?):
As you noted, you can only see the first line when in "full" view (until you select the note itself):
You can cut the quote from the iPad note, paste it into the note field, but notice that it does not give you the bibliographic info (you would have to copy from L4 to do that.):
