I've updated to the newest release of the iOS app (2.1.5.269 2012-05-23 17:15:16 PDT) and I'm still not able to get my notes / highlights downloaded without the app crashing.

Anyone at Logos have any suggestions?

    Hi Tom,

    1. Which Apple device are you running (iPad1, iPad2, iPhone3GS, etc.)?
    2. Which iOS version (4.3.2, 5.1, etc.)?
    3. How large is the notes.db file on your Logos Desktop machine?

There has been a persistent problem with syncing very large notes files to older Apple mobile devices, usually as a result of low memory issues.  The method by which notes are being synced has changed in the current internal dev builds such that large notes files are synced properly.  However, because of the complex nature of the code change the fix cannot be ported back to the 2.1.x branch.  The good news is we have the fix and it will be included in an upcoming product.

iPad 2 16GB WiFi + 4G with about 2.5 GB of free space

    2. Which iOS version (4.3.2, 5.1, etc.)?

    5.1.1

Not sure.  Where would I find that?  I'm running 4.5c Beta 3 (4.53.0.2109) (Update Channel: beta) with Scholar's Gold (KF)

The notes.db file is located at "Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/<unique_id>/Documents/Notes/notes.db".  The <unique_id> string is different for every user but there should be only one on your system.

The notes.db file itself is 88.5 MB, but the directory is 1.03 GB with several .bak files that are 112.7 MB

OK... I finally got to where I could let it go until it all got downloaded!!!  And it did!  From what I can tell everything is showing up :)

Now, is it indexing or anything?  Because it's taking up to 15-20 seconds for the menu to pop-up when I select a highlight / note.

For clarification - Is it taking that long for the MENU to appear, or for the highlighting to be applied? The later seems right, the former seems like something wrong.

The highlighting can take awhile (~ a minute or so) to show up on the word.  It's when I select a word and the menu pops up that it freezes for a bit.  I don't think the highlighting showing up is a big problem since once it's there, I can navigate between pages and they all have highlighting instantly.  it's the lag when you try to select a word to Look up / Edit Note / etc. that's an issue.  Once the menu shows up, it can take another 10-15 seconds for it to recognize that I've selected Look Up or any of the other menu options.

    Hope that helps

When I was beta testing much earlier, there was a lag of 45-120 seconds for highlighting to apply. That has been sped up considerably on my devices. I do notice that by using resources without many notes & smaller note files, that the speed at which highlights are applied can be lessened.

This seems to be particular to your install. Mine works very quickly. Hopefully you will see improvements with 2.1.6 when it ships.

When I get a chance (later today), I'll do some timing of it and have definitive numbers for you.
