RE: Logos Bible Software 4.5b SR-3 (4.52.0.2208) on an up-to-date Windows XP machine.

While moving a set of notes from one note file to another I noticed two things that could be fixed/improved.

I set up the two note files in side-by-side panes in a separate window, then dragged notes from one pane to another. As the cursor hovered over the blank area at the end of the destination file, it shows a plus sign yet when I "dropped" the note in the destination file, it did MOVE it. The plus sign is correct in the sense that the note is being added to the destination file. However this cursor behavior is not consistent with Windows conventions which show a plus sign when copying, not moving content. That makes Logos behavior a bit confusing.

Secondly if I drag the note to a spot BETWEEN existing notes in the destination file, a horizontal bar appears, and I assume that's where it intends to insert the new note. However when I "drop" the note, it simply disappears. It also disappears from the source file, so I assume it moved the note, but failed to focus the destination file at the added note. So actually I don't know if the note is now gone or was added and placed somewhere in the destination file other than where I dropped it. I was moving a lot of notes in a hurry so I didn't pay attention to the note titles and didn't want to spend the time hunting for the "lost" notes. I am hoping the note was actually added somewhere.

The notes I moved can be recreated, so I wasn't too concerned even if they were lost, but for the sake of the future, I'd like to see Logos have the destination should move its focus to the note that was added, regardless of where it was added so the user can confirm the addition.

Have a great day,
jmac

These are good suggestions! I'd encourage you to post your ideas at http://logos.uservoice.com/

Yup, I'm all up for more notes improvements - in particular the managing of them e.g. splitting/searching notes.  I can accept it will be hard to make it work like Word and I'm not looking for that functionality, but, for example, being able to put note files into collections and being able to search "bible WITHIN 5 WORDS inspir*" would be great ...  At the moment I have 1 file with all Bible notes in because, if I split them into each book for example, I wouldn't be able to find my comments in the Bible on any given subject e.g. 'employment'.

Anyway, glad to hear Logos are constantly thinking about how to improve notes functionality and I look forward to the next updates :)

Why won't Logos search all your notes?

It searches the notes but doesn't show multiple hits within a single note file.  But yes, splitting them into files for each book probably would be best! :)

Another thing that would be useful would be the capability to click the first note in a series of notes in one note file, then scroll down to the end of the list, hold down SHIFT and click the last one, to select the entire group of notes, then move them (as a group) to another open note file. If you are moving many notes around, this would really speed things up.

Tom, UncleBob, I share both of your concerns strongly.  For me, this should be high on the 'getting this sorted' list as it doesn't seem like either of the issues you've raised should be hard to solve ...

There is an active case for this issue.  I have added a link to this thread to the case notes.

Everyone who's interested in better Notes should vote for Rework notes function - in one or multiple phases, if they haven't already done so.
