Canada Excluded

Can anyone out there tell me why Canada is excluded as a Logos user from many of the cool give-aways on line.  Most recently:

Win a Free Copy of the Evangelical Exegetical Commentary!

I am pretty choked about that one.  Can anyone explain why it is always the following:

1. ELIGIBILITY: Logos Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) is open only to
legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of
Columbia....

Just asking the question to see if I am the only one bothered by this...not that I expect to win, its the principle of the matter.

I would suggest that this is due to Logos not knowing the law code positions for promotions (which can be treated as gambling) in non domestic territories.

Yes but i know of other companies that have included Canada in their contest, That being said I do remember something about regulations are out there requiring you to answer a skill testing questions for some contests, usually something like (4+5)x3-2=??? If that is the issue I assume name the first 5 books of the bible or name the 4 gospels might be considered acceptable skill testing questions.

Would it be too divisive or imbalanced to offer a "Canada-only" contest? and a "UK-only" contest? and an "Asia-only" contest? and ....     Well? Life is not so fair sometimes

I would enter my wife Nina in the contest but who would believe the contest had any integrity if she beat the odds and won? "Yeah. that MVP fixed the contest, somehow,,,"  [6]

Well, in defense of the OP, the last time I checked, the Logos mission statement had built a carefully worded fence around North America. So technically, 'Canada' which is usually 'north' would probably qualify for Logos' best efforts.

It is a little annoying to get emails and homepage messages, as well as blog posts that get the hopes up, only for the small print to say "legal residents of the US only".  Please could we at least be spared the emails and home page messages if we are outside the US?  Better still, I'm sure someone at Logos could devise something that was US residents excluded, to make the rest of us feel better.  It wouldn't have to be a competition the same way that the usual giveaways are.  I'm sure there's enough ingenuity at Logos to come up with something.

What about the US residents who would complain?  Well, maybe they'd get a feeling for how "the rest of the world" feels when they're continually excluded.  I know there's good legal reasons for not making competitions open to everyone, but we could at least even things up a little, couldn't we?

PS.  I'm not sure whether everyone at Logos realises just how many things non-US residents are invited to participate in, but excluded from actually entering.  It's a long list, and only the small print, in it's non-friendly way, explains otherwise...

I would love to know the demographic breakdown by continent/country of the Logos user base, as I would not be surprised if we non-us citizens were actually in the majority of users..
