BUG: Quirky Date Behavior for Devotionals
I know the off-by-one date problem has been discussed before, but I have discovered, for my self anyway, why it sometimes appears hit-and-miss.
If I open Logos when the devotion was the last thing I was reading, all is OK. That is, reading a devotional, exiting Logos, and killing it from the taskbar. If I then open Logos, it opens to the devotional to the correct date. If I then go to the home page, the devotional date has changed to yesterday, even though I was just reading the devotional for today.
It appears that on freshly opening a devotional, Logos correctly determines the date, but going to the Home page has a different date determination method that is wrong.
It seems like they have the correct date calculation method, they just need to put it in the correct place(s).

Is the behavior your describe what you are observing in the iOS version of Logos? There is some vocabulary you used that made me unsure of what platform you were using.

Sorry for the vocabulary mixup... Yes, this is using the latest iOS version on my iPad.

When I follow this method the behavior does not repeat for me. What version of the app are you using? Can you go to More>About and post the number? Thank you.

I should have made a not that I was doing this at 6:50 am, Central time (I live in Mississippi). The time mixup may fix itself after a certain time... I can try at various times during the day to narrow it down, as it is working as expected now, at 2:55 pm Central time.

This behavior seems to occur before 7:00 am, Central time, and the date is correctly chosen after 7:00 am in both the home screen and the devotional itself.

Tommy Ball: are you able to test this at 7am, or whatever time it is where you are when it is 7 am Central? That would be 5 am Pacific, 6 am Mountain, 8 am Eastern. Before this time, the Home page shows the devotionals for the previous day, yet after this time the Home page shows the date to be correct.
If I kill the process all together from the taskbar, while I was reading a devotional, no matter what time I start Logos, the devotional goes to the correct day. This seems to be a date-enter mining problem in the area that determines the date for the Home page. Even if I start logos with the devotional, and it opens to the correct date, if I then go to the Home page before 7 am, the Home page will display yesterday's date.

Hi Bill,
I'm sorry but I'm unable to test this at that time. I'm not in the office until 8:00am PDT, and we don't open until 6:00am PDT. If it isn't too much of a trouble, can you post logs while at the same time capturing a screen cast of the behavior? Thank you.

I don't know how to get logs off the iPad. Maybe you could test it before going to work, or at least pass on the symptoms to the developers? Maybe one of them does early morning devotions!

As I said, I don't know how to get Logos log files from the iPad, but here are screen shots that demonstrate the problem. Even though 7:00 am is 5:00 am on the west coast, it may occur at 7:00 am there, also, depending on what the problem is.
When I exit Logos with a devotional on the screen, the remove the app from the taskbar, the correct date is calculated and I got this screen at 6:35 am this morning:
I then went to the Home page and got this screen. Note the date is incorrect, even though the date was correct when I started Logos and it found the correct date for the devotional.
I then went to the devotional, and sure enough, it was off by one.
A small problem, true enough, but very repeatable and easy to find; hopefully easy to fix, as well.
