Problems accessing resource (force close or kick back to menu)
I have Logos on my PC, an iOS device, an Android phone (Android 2.x), and an Android tablet (Android 2.x, then 4.0).
About a week ago, I started having a problem accessing the MacArthur Study Bible NASB on my Android tablet, even though it had worked perfectly before that point. I tried everything to fix the problem:
- I turned off split-screen (pulled down the split-screen selector).
- I confirmed I have the latest version of the app.
- I removed and redownloaded the resource.
- I cleared the app cache and data, closed the app, restarted, etc.
- I tried moving the app from internal memory to SD card.
- I reinstalled the app and tried accessing the source before and after downloading it.
- I even wiped my system and started from scratch, trying a newer Android OS version.
Nothing worked, and the problem occurs with or without an internet connection.
When I try accessing the resource from the library, usually the spinner will spin for a bit in the read window (on top of a blank screen, although the header identifies the resource), then stop, then the app will punt me back to the library screen. Every other resource I've tried seems to be working fine.
I checked on my Android phone (different OS version), and the same problem occurs.
However, the resource works fine on my PC and on my iOS device.
Any ideas why this problem popped up (or what the fix might be)? My Android tablet is my primary outside-the-home Bible, and I really would like to be able to continue to access these study notes.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

A little more info that might help narrow down the potential causes: I downloaded the latest version of Vyrso to my tablet, and the resource works fine there.
Any idea why I would have no problem accessing the resource in Vyrso but be unable to access it in Logos?
Thanks again for any help you can provide.

I wonder if it is Android 4. When you delete a resource it actually remains on the device. So I would first delete it on the device, connect it to a PC in Mass Storage mode, and delete it from the Android/data/com.logos.androidlogos/install/resources path (delete the folder with LLS:xxxxx that matches the detail from the Information page of the resource on PC). Then re-download onto the device.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your input. The problem occurs with Android 4.0 and with Android 2.3, on two different devices. I have deleted the app on both devices, and I have deleted the data manually (as you suggested). But that didn't fix the problem, unfortunately. I even restored an earlier version of Android on my tablet (2.3) and the problem persists, so I don't think it's an issue with 4.0.
After my PC version updated to 4.5 SR-2, and with some finagling on my part, I am able to access the resource again on both devices, but it will kick back to the library menu (or a previous read window) when I try to move around in the resource (say, moving from Luke to Revelation). There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the crashes, but they make the resource unusable, and this is the only resource that gives me problems.
I'm worried there is a problem with my account or with sync to the Android devices. I still can't figure out why there is no problem using the resource on my iOS devices.

I doubt that they contribute to your problem. Logos sell the NKJV version and that may have a bearing, but I would contact Logos Support to see what they can do.

Having the exact same problem on Kindle Fire w/ MacNASB. Tried complete uninstall and reinstall of the same latest version of Logos that's currently on Amazon. Didn't have the problem with previous version.
Needs to be fixed.

Hi M G,
I've verified that this is an issue with the newer Logos versions and have written up a case for it. Thanks for the report.

How do I downgrade to the previous version on my Kindle?
I use the Mac. NASB Study Bible constantly, so I need to find a way to use this resource on Logos.

Kevin,
Good news. A fix for this issue will be in the 2.0 beta release (coming soon).
By Kindle do you mean Kindle Fire? Did you install the app from the Amazon Appstore?
The quickest way to get the fix will be to download the beta when it's available. At this time another 1.1.x update is not planned since the 2.0 release is in the works. Even if we released this fix today via the Amazon Appstore it would take 5+ days before becoming publicly available.

It should be considered as Android 2.1 users won't have access to the fix and some users may not want to migrate to the 2.0 release.
