Invites
The thing that got me and many other people using facebook was a friend invited me and I was then able to invite other friends. Is that feature already available? If not will it be available?

At the moment it only seems to be available to group administrators.

If the group is an open group you can just point them to the group and they can join themselves.
If the group is a closed group, again you can point them to the group but in this case they can request to join. And the moderator/admin approves the request.
But in the case of a Secret group, the administrator or moderator is the only one that can send out an invite. Once the invite is accepted by the person who wants to join they are part of the group.
Even Facebook has this ability, to have secret groups that required an admin to send an invite. Their closed groups are similar to Faithlife as well as you have to request to join and only a moderator/admin can add them to the group.

How do you find open groups?
1) simply use the group search in faithlife. That's the intented feature. Problem: you'll be drowned in a non-filterable list of empty groups, pre-loaded from Logos to resemble each and any known church in Northamerica. By being creative in your search string and persistent in scrolling, you may find some (such as "christian debate")
2) Join one or two of the more active groups, such as Fathlife Beta or Logos Pageturners. When someone posts, lookup their profile to see the groups they are member of and consider looking them up (works with clicking instad of search)
You'll probably find there are many many open groups, but not much activity within them, since IMO the "critical mass" of active paricipants hasn't reached. So, whatever you do: try to become active in the groups you join

I wish there were a way to filter the search to show only open groups, and/or only groups with at least <n> members. Or sort by number of members. Also sort by how active the group is (number of posts). And do it in such a way that you don't have to type any letters in to the filter, because you could be guessing all day to find the meaty ones.

I agree, the searching here needs to be better. We're discussing ways to improve it for sure.
For right now the suggestion from NB.Mick as to how to find active groups until critical mass is obtained as there will be many inactive groups until then.
If you go to a particular church in your area you might suggest to others you know that they join a group that either already exists nearby (having your location set helps here) as having others helps to better your use of Faithlife.com as well as puts you in a position to help us improve the site (through your suggestions and bug feedback) to get more people here.

For faithlife to take off, it needs to be tied to the Forums where Logos has a large user base. If someone is discussing deity of Christ, in the forums, then a link can be displayed to show where there are groups (open or closed) groups discussing this issue. This can be generated by tags derived from the About section of the faithlife group.
