Backup & Restore downloaded resources in iTunes
The lack of ability to backup and restore downloaded resources via iTunes is a significant shortfall of the IOS apps. I would download more of my library if this feature was available.

Hi Andrew, the Logos app used to backup as part of the iTunes app and then an update a few months ago changed that. I can't speak for Logos or for anyone else, but I personally welcomed the change for two reasons: First, the backup file on my computer huge. It was over 10gb (my entire library) and on a SSD hard drive, 10gb is very precious real estate. Second, it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R for iTunes to sync my iPad because of the 10gb Logos file and oftentimes my iTunes would hang or freeze because of it. Since the update though I haven't had a single sync problem and my backup file only takes about 80mb on my SSD.
I know not everyone is probably happy with not being able to back up their resources but I personally am more than happy to re-download my library if I ever have to restore my iPad in exchange for the benefits of faster iTunes sync and smaller backup file size.
Just my own opinion.

Ryan,
Ryan, I've never known the Logos IOS app to backup resources, maybe it was before the time I started using it, but certainly not in the last few months. I've been using for probably 10 or 11 months, and a few times over that period I've had to restore my iphone and that has meant re-downloading any resources I did have downloaded - there was no backup of them via iTunes to restore. After the first time I gave up trying to re-download everything I had prevoiusly downloaded. After a week I still hadn't got back to where I was previously in terms of what I had downloaded, and I didn't have 10GB worth downloaded. And its painful because every time you use the app it wants to start downloading what's missing, and that's not always convenient because you are not always connected to your home WIFI - network data charges are quite high if you go over your monthly limit in Australia and given the Logos App fails to tell you how much you are downloading - its just not an option to allow downloads to occur when you are not connected to you home network. Hence for me even it was, 10GB I'd much rather a 10GB backup file, than take over a week to and still not be back where I was previously in terms of what I had downloaded.

Hi Andrew, the not backing up seems strange to me. I was thinking maybe I made a mistake so I went back and checked the release notes of the 2.1.6 release and here's what it says:
What's New in Version 2.1.6Fixed
* Syncing of very large notes documents* Syncing custom styles
* Update dates of adjusted reading plans
* Don’t
include downloaded resources in backup* Don't crash if sync fails
(You can view the full list here)
I'm wondering if maybe something is different between the iPhone app and the iPad app?

I don't know that it is different but I've never had iTunes back up resources for me on iPhone. As far as I know its the same app. Only recently purchased an iPad so can't comment on that. All that I can say is it is an absolute pain not having resources backed up and having to download them all again if you have to do a restore.

For at least a while it's been a feature in iTunes. Here is a picture of iTunes 10, it's on the Summary tab when you click on your connected device:
Yes i know about this feature, its part and parcel of Apple Software. I am talking about the logos resources I have chosen to download to the IOS app. After restoring a back-up of your phone, using the feature of iTunes you have pointed out, one then has to go and re-download resources from the cloud as they are not included in that backup, only the app itself is restored.

To the best of my knowledge it can't but I'm not an iTunes expert
