    Hi Garrett

Upgrading from v2 to v3 should not require you to redownload resources.

Are you sure you have lost them?

Ah. Sadly I am in error!  Gladly, no need to re-download!  My bad.

Garrett - You might also like to know that if you have to delete the app, Logos will ask you if you want to re-download the books you had previously downloaded. My experience is that it works pretty well, but perhaps not perfectly.

I didn't get asked when I deleted and reinstalled.  Did I do something wrong?

Todd - I don't know. I have received the dialog box three times during my beta testing. I am curious how it works. For example, does it know the difference between my iPhone and iPad installations? I will tell you that the box is easy to overlook. It is possible that you got it and clicked no. It is similar to the "do you want to rate Logos" box.

I downloaded the update, but the program crashed when a note was open. Thereafter the program crashed every time I started it.  It did not ask me if I wanted to download the books again. I'm still downloading my library since early this AM.

It did not ask me if I wanted to download the books again.

It would only do this if you deleted the app and redownloaded it. Is that what you did?

Are you downloading your entire library? How much free space is on your device?

    FYI -

Generally speaking, downloading all resources is not necessary if you have a consistent and reliable wifi connection while using Logos.  In fact, nearly everything is faster while online, and more features are available (Bible Word Study, for example).  If for some reason you do decide to download all resources please make sure you have a quality wifi connection during the entire download process.

If you have a 3G or 4G connection only at some point and your Logos library is large, it would be unwise to then download all resources because of the amount of time it would take to complete (possibly days) and the associated bandwidth costs you might incur.  I don't pretend to know everyone's mobile bandwidth agreements, I am simply speaking generally about Logos and bandwidth issues.  Thanks!

To make sure I always can come back to the same set of downloaded books I created a tag "iPad" in my Logos 4 library. After any problems or need to re-install iPad application I filter those books on my iPad and do Download All command.

The app crashed shortly after the initial update. I had a note file open at the time. Thereafter, it crashed every time I attempted to open the application. I phoned tech support, and he experienced the same problem.  I have 4,600 resources and Logos ad 32,000 on their iPad. Both are 64GB models.

I noticed during the re-install the program was taking considerably longer to update resources than the initial update. I didn't recall seeing a spinning pinwheel during the update. The tech attributed that to my having many large note files. Apparently, the update handles the importation of note files differently than the full install. The initial update only took 3 or 4 minutes, whereas the full install took approximately one hour. Downloading my resources took another 16 hours.

When you "update" the app, your user data remains in place (notes, downloaded books, etc). When you delete the app to do a reinstall, all of that info is lost and must be redownloaded. The worst case scenario is having large note documents and a large list of books to download, which seems to have been the case with you. [:S]
