3.0 Column issues

Using the most recent iPad, downloaded L4 3 for it. VAST improvement over the early versions! Many many thanks!

I was reading the Anchor Bible Dictionary in rotated mode ( - instead of | ), columns set to automatic, and had two columns, which made sense. Then suddenly, after 30 minutes and multiple pages, it shifted into one large column, which was two big. I went in to the settings and changed it to two columns. No change. Three columns. No change. Closing the program entirely (not just changing to another one, but manually shutting Logos down) does reset it two two columns until it reverts back to one.  It's a bit quirky and unreliable.

More than likely, this is a resource issue, and occurs in L4 as well. Most often this occurs when you come to a header (a fixed width) which is wider than the columns. When this happens, the app will move to fewer columns to accommodate. The app generally does NOT go back without a restart. As I said, the same happens in L4.

FYI - "Landscape" is the term you were looking for. "Portrait" is the standard view.

Tap in the middle of the resource, at the top right corner you will see Aa, tap on it and columns should be there.

Like Alabama pointed out, what you are experiencing is very likely a feature of our resource display that we internally call "column override". Wide content like headings, long words, images, tables, etc that cannot be wrapped at the given column width force the display to less columns until the content fits.

The override is in effect while the offending content is loaded (not just displayed).

It may be obvious, but font size choice can also affect when column override might be required (larger fonts will trigger it more often than smaller ones).
