Note document not working to find notes in IOS3.0
The notes documents seem to work find on IOS3.0 if I want to take a note from one of my books. It appears in the document both on IOS and on Logos 4. However, once the notes have been taken, I can't seem to go back to the books from IOS.
In other words, in the note document on IOS3, I can see my note, but I can't seem to go to the original book where I took the note.
This functionality seems fine for IOS if all I want to do is take notes. But if I want to revisit my notes I'm pretty much up-creek.
Is anyone else having a problem with this? Is there anyway that we can visit our books where the notes were taken from IOS3 or is the only way to revisit the original place of the notes by going to our desktop?

Notice two things:
1) This note doesn't tell me where this note comes from. The reason I know the first note is from LEB and the second is from Commentary on the Old Testament is because I wrote that in the note. But other than writing that on every note, there is no way for me to know where that note is.
2) The note doesn't have any way for me to get to where it is located. If I want to go go Ezekiel 1:1 on the LEB where the first note is located is by doing it by hand. There should be a link so that we can click on it and go directly where the note is located. As pointed out in 1), we can only do this by hand if we write it in the note where the note is located as there is no other way of knowing.
Does this make more sense now?

Obed - Thanks for the screen shots. I think I understand better now. Some thoughts:
- It is helpful to understand how notes work in L4. The mobile app is designed to be a complement to L4, so some behavior is best understood in the context of the desktop app.
- Notes in L4 can be attached or unattached. It appears that your second note was an "unattached" note. Did you press the "plus" button in the document folder to create the note? If so, it can't be "from Commentary on the Old Testament" but is completely unattached to any text.
- Attached notes, on the other hand, can be attached to "selections" or to "references." Notes that are attached to a "reference" will appear in ANY AND ALL versified resources (i.e. Bible, commentary, etc.). Notes that are attached to a "selection" are attached to a particular character, word, phrase or any other selection within a particular resource. Your first note appears to be attached to a reference. If so, you will find that note in Ezekiel 1:1 in EVERY bible. (It's possible that the note is attached to a selection, but I would expect the selection to appear where it says "Note Title."
The note doesn't have any way for me to get to where it is located.
As I explained above, unattached notes are not tied to any resource. Your first note, within L4, you can click on "Ezekiel 1:1" and it will take you there. Apparently the mobile app does not have this ability currently.

Hi Obed,
Welcome to the Forums!
Logos has two ways to attach a note to a Bible reference. One is to attach the note to a verse. When using a note document on a iOS device you can tap the blue verse reference in the note heading and it will open up to the correct verse. But what Bible translation is opened is determined by where the note is attached.
- Attached to Verse
This will work no matter what translation you use.
- Attached to Selection
Select the text in the specific translation you want.
Then make sure it’s attached to selection
For a non-Bible reference work like a commentary.
Here is how the notes look
Blessings!

Both notes are attached notes and they are both attached to selections. The Ezekiel reference is only found in the LEB bible and the last one is found only in the "Commentary on the Old Testament". I'm enclosing a screen shot from L4. Note that Daniel 1:3–7 appears as a link there, but not in the mobile app.
However, the point that I'm trying to make is what you pointed out at the end. That the mobile app doesn't have the ability to take me to my resource. The way I work, is I do searches and research on L4 and I make notes. Then when I'm on the road, I want to go to the resources to reread and meditate on those notes.
What I want to know is if there is any work around for this or if this is something that we can request. Because for me, that's the whole point of my notes—to be able to get back to the reference for the notes.0 -

Can you be more specific about which resource is the second one? Can you give a link to the resource page on Logos.com?

By the second resource, I mean the note that appears second. The Daniel note on L4 and the one without a name in IOS. How do I give a link to the resource? When I do a search for a book, the url is still logos.com.

Ok...it took almost 18 hours for my post fo be approved, I guess it's because of all the screenshots. The downside of those who spammed the forums is that it effects the rest of us.

Philana,
Thanks. That is a very explanation about how one can take notes on IOS. I wasn't aware of that.
However, my question is after you take the notes. Say you want to go to your source of your last note. Since you titled your note with the title of the resource, you can always go to that resource from the library. However, supposed you wanted to go directly to your resource from the note? How can we do that on IOS?

Where it says Page 13 in blue next to the Book title, that's the link to the resource. If you have notes on bottom, a bible on top, and click the blue page # for the book note as long as the book is mobile enabled then the top pane will switch from the Bible to the specific resource. That's how it works in iOS now.

Ok, I think I see now. That doesn't work on the iPhone. When I click on the blue page number the "Edit Note" screen comes up. From what I understand you are saying is that it does work on the iPad. Do you have an iPhone or iPod that you can test this on?

Obed - I can confirm that this method DOES work on the iPad but DOESNT work on the iPhone. Apparently the entire box around the note is one big button.

Thanks.
Is there anyway that we can find out if the iPhone design is on purpose and is expected to stay that way, or if the iPhone links will be working in a updated version?

I didn't realize this was different on the iPhone. On the iPad when I click on the link in the note document, it goes to the resource. I have to tap on the title or note box itself to edit. This is in the note document itself, as example in the last screenshot I posted.
