Logos 4 on VMWare. . .very fast!

So, after seeing some of the complaints on speed and extra efforts to make it faster i was a bit apprehensive about running under Fusion until the Mac goes live. . .but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it runs. I did no extra anything - same old 2.0 image I have used for miscellaneous things, older Macbook Pro 2.4 with 2GB RAM. It runs fast, stable, and totally usable.

Great report!

Although today for some reason I downloaded an update (plus I purchased a book). It has gone into indexing and indexing again. Been at it for at least three hours and reports another three (though I don't think it will take that long). I love the benefits of indexing because of the increased speed to searches, but the process of indexing is a bit of a pain!

Maybe I'll place an order sooner then and run under Fusion myself. I've got A3 installed and I'm really excited about the end product but to be fair it's not useful yet.

Fusion works reasonably well for me. Let me put it this way... since I installed L4 on Fusion, I have used neither 1.2.2 for Mac or 3.0g for Windows. Version 4 is too fun to use to go back to either old version, though I am keeping them around for backup.

Now if we can just get L4 for Mac on it's feet...! [H]

Fusion is a product by VMWare that allows you to run a virtual PC on your Mac. It still requires you to have a license for Windows products, but it does provide access to programs that are still essential but not Mac compliant.

Same here - Mac 1.2.2 and 3.0 for Windows haven't really been touched since L4. I also run L4 for Win in Fusion for real work and only use Mac A3 to tinker until more functionality is added.

I went and loaded the PC engine to my XP box running in Fusion. The machine runs fine on its own, but as soon as I run Logos 4 (and yes, it finished indexing), everything freezes. I'll tinker on it again tonight, but not the experience I was hoping for. That said, seeing the populated home screen just made me more hungry for the Mac version to get running fully! Come on Team Logos!!

FYI I'm running Fusion 2.0.6 on a MacBook (2.4GHz intel, 2GB RAM, Snow Leopard). My virtual machine is XP Home and has almost nothing else installed.

I bit the bullet and ordered my real upgrade, not just the engine downloaded for free. I will try that tonight instead, plus remove Intego Virus X5 from my Mac (which is a new install from a free license) and see if that works better. What settings do you use for vRAM etc.?

One things for sure, my iPhone library just got a lot bigger!! Wow!!! [:O]

I run Windows XP under Fusion 3 and Logos 4. Fusion 3 is quite a bit faster IF you are running Snow Leopard.

I am also running L4 for win on a virtual XP Home machine via Fusion 2.0.5 on a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel, 2 MB RAM, and Snow Leopard. It is a little slower than L4 on a standard Vista machine but but faster than 3.0 was in the same setup and faster than 1.2.2 on Mac. I can't hardly wait for the L4 Mac to be ready! I love the new functionality of L4.

Just to add to the discussion...I am running L4 on Parallels 5 while waiting for the full L4 for Mac and I'm loving it. The functionality is great and it runs very smooth. I have Windows 7 installed in Parallels and it runs fast. The "Crystal" function is awesome, making it integrate totally within the Mac OS. No separate screens and runs great on a dual monitor setup. Running it on a Macbook Pro 2.26 GHZ Dual core with 4 GB RAM, newer 13.3" model unibody.

I running Logos 4 on Win 7 with Fusion 3 on OSX 10.6.2 - it is also fast on my system. I will eventually install Logos 4 for Mac when it catches up; until then, I can certainly live with it on my Win 7 virtual machine.

suffering envy here. my VM in Fusion 2.0.6 (or .5?) is terrible with Logos open. Like 3 minutes to wait between clicks. Weird. Maybe I'll reinstall and see if that fixes things!
