Footnotes on Wrong page?
Hi. In some cases on my iPad (new iPad, iPad 3, whatever you want to call it) sometimes a footnoote will appear on the following page. Not the page where the reference in the main body of text is shown. I tried changing the font size, coming to the page from different places, etc. No difference. It is not always the case. Most of the time the footnotes appear where they should.
I've removed the resource from the iPad, restarted everything, and downloaded it again. Same thing. After some playing around, it "seems" to happen on pages where I have highlighting.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

How do I provide a screen shot from my iPad? (not tech savy user)
- Press and hold both physical buttons on the iPad for a couple of seconds. (you will hear a camera "shutter" sound)
- The pictures will be in the iOS photos folder.
- If you have iCloud set up properly, you will be able to find your pics in iPhoto on your mac.
- If you dont have iCloud set up you will need to email the pictures to yourself.
- When you create a new post in this thread, use the paperclip icon to attach the pictures.
Remember to give some names of the resources in question. If I have the same resources, I will try to recreate the issue.

The resource I am using is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I have attached three screen shots. The first shows the behavior in question. Footnote reference 105 is in paragraph 129 toward the bottom of the page. Notice that the footnote iteself is not listed at the very bottom. If I turn to the next page (second screen shot) you can see footnote 105 as the first footnote at the bottom. The third screen shot is when I change the font size smaller. Here, footnote 105 and all the footnotes references on the display appear correctly at the bottom. Of course, I prefer not to read with this small font, but it works.
Again, thanks for your help looking at it. Let me know.
Blessings, Steve

Stephen - I don't have that resource to try it out with that specific one, but I tried another footnote heavy resource and can confirm the behavior. I will create a new bug thread for this. (When a thread has the prefix "BUG:", it is more likely to catch the attention of a Logos employee).

Isn't this just an issue of space? The layout engine has decided that there isn't enough space for footnote 105—perhaps it wants to have space for two lines before it starts a footnote. (There will also be a fixed minimum vertical space between the main text and the first footnote.) Note 105 gets put where the nearest sufficient space is: the next page, although I acknowledge that in this case—since it is just one line—the note could just have been squeezed in on he previous page. I would expect similar behaviour from a word processor or human typesetter.

I was thinking something was not working properly. It's not an issue on the desktop that I can see.
Thanks again for your help. [:)]

I don't think it is. Look at the third screen shot, which is 2 columns. Footnote 104 should be at the bottom of the left column, but it is on the right. Also notice that there is more "footnote space" on the right column. There clearly would have been enough on the left.
