Latest iPad update
What does the 'mobile resource downloads will only work over Wi-Fi' mean. I download stuff all the time when I am out using 3G. Is this now being stopped? If so can it be at least made optional, otherwise the iPad App will be useless.

Hi Malcolm,
Resources can always be downloaded through 3G. What we are referring to is automatic downloads. Say you have 10 Logos resources downloaded on your iPad, and then you delete Logos and reinstall it. After logging in, Logos will automatically download those same 10 resources - but only if you are on Wi-Fi. Many of our 3G customers were blindsided by these automatic downloads and didn't want Logos to "automatically" increase their bandwidth costs.
The release notes didn't clarify this point well - we've updated them.

I think I may have run into same problem. No WiFi at home so I attempted the iPad app update using 3G and it appeared successful. However the layout is totally different and I can't access the formerly last screen to see what 'version' I now have on the iPad; the size was to be about 27~MB. Nor can I access the screen to log into the Logos forums from the iPad (formerly on the 'last screen'). Everything is different.
Then when I connected the iPad to my iMac to sync, it (iTunes on the iMac) attempts to download a version 3.0.2 of 27.5MB that will take 16 hours to accomplish. Don't think so, so I stopped that! Logos on my iMac is at v 4.5c SR-4.
If anyone can explain what happened or should have happened, I'd appreciate it.

Ah, I was under the impression that the app would ask you if you wanted to re-download after installing. I guess that is not the case?

Janis, I don't know the ins and outs of what should download and what shouldn't, but it sounds as though you may have skipped the previous update. If that is the case then, yes, things should look different. The key things are (1) the icon in the top left corner, which opens a side panel, and (2) realising that that side panel has multiple pages changed by swiping left or right. From there you should be able find most things.

Thanks for all the advice. I think my son-in-law figured it out -
"Well, since iCoud, updates can be done without iTunes so the iPad did it already. iTunes still wants to update it but it's not needed so stopping was the right choice. I don't even connect mine to iTunes (the Mac) anymore. The app is basically in two places, the iPad and iTunes on the Mac. It used to just be updated through iTunes via the cable, now all that isn't necessary. You can just ignore the updates shown in iTunes under Apps and just do them over 3G on the iPad."
The rest of you probably don't have a problem with slow connection speed, so I'll be watching for future updates at least until next trip to Apple store where they can update the bigger changes quickly.
Thanks also for the link to the video about latest iPad updates. Very helpful!
