Commentary question

I'm really thinking about upgrading my OL to PL mainly because of the commentaries in this package. But I was wondering: if I'm looking at a certain passage, is it then possible to get a overview of which commentaries I have on this passage, and maybe even a short note about what they say?

If not, I'd rather have 1 or 2 very good commentaries then the pretty good commentaries in PL.

second question: Logos is a christian orginazation, but do they also sell some 'unchristian' 'naturalistic' commentaries? Because I want to know what they would say on certain things, not because I'd believe it, but because I can think about the answer to it.

The Passage Guide in Logos will pull up all commentaries which are indexed by the passage you are looking at - so this will show you all of them. To see what each one of them says, click on the commentary and it will open to the correct point.

I'm not sure what you mean by "unchristian" or "naturalistic" commentaries - and it would be best to avoid having a debate on that!

My advice would be to have a good balance of commentary resources (scholarly, exgetical, application, etc.) Many resources within logos and outside of logos can provide you with information regarding positions on topics that are not viewed as "Christian" or biblical positions.

I would caution you not to rely soley on commentaries (regardless who wrote them).in determining the "right" answer. Study your bible and collect information on a subject or passage; but do the leg work that is necessary for a good study of a passage. Commentaries are just one (sometimes small) step in the process.

Thank you for the answers. I'm sorry about my rude discription of the commentaries, I just wasn't sure about how to descripe them.

and don't worry I won't only rely on commentaries (it is not without reason that I'm using OL at the moment :P)
