Why is Keil and Delitzsch's Commentary on the Old Testament not available on iOS (iPhone/iPad)?
Greetings,
I have been curious for some time now why Keil and Delitzsch's Commentary on the Old Testament is not available on iOS (iPhone/iPad)? Could someone help me understand this? I though that it was an open-copyrighted set of books, which is why there are so many software applications and websites make it available for free.
Or, is the issue that Logos has a specific contractual agreement with the specific version of the work published by Hendrickson, and they did not want it available on mobile devices?
Is there ever a chance of this changing? I want to take these two guys along with me
thanks!

It would seem to be the case.

Mikko - Logos can't do so without the publisher's permission.

In special cases like these, when a particular resource in not available in the Logos app, I compromise and use the free app Pocket Sword so that I can access what I really want. Granted, it is not under the same roof, so to speak, but I value the resources offered over the app and so use both apps when need be. God bless.

Hi Matt,
This resource is available on iOS (please see screenshot) - or are you referring to a different resource?

Kevin - I could swear that when Matt asked the question I looked this up... at least on the product info page. Is it possible that it just became availble or that the product page was just updated to reflect this status?

Dear LOGOS/Bob,
First, thank you for working so diligently to get as many resources available cross-platform as possible. Second, is there a way that we could get notification when a product that was previously unavailable on all platforms becomes available on IOS?

My assumption is that it was just enabled in some way as you were NOT the only one that it didn't show up on the iPad for.

I think you are right. It's possible someone saw the thread and enabled it, and when Kevin saw the thread it had already been turned on.

Hmm. I don't know - I never checked the product info page but just checked my test device to see if it was available. I'll ask around to see how to learn when resources are added to the mobile devices.

I want to welcome you to the Logos Forums where Logos Bible Software Users try to help and support one another. Please feel free to visit often, to ask questions, and perhaps to give someone else a boost.
When you say that you tried Logos, does that mean you bought something? Actually, the four Logos iOS apps take you to your library of purchased Logos Products (there are a number of free ones also) where you can use the resource directly from "the cloud" via Wi-Fi - or downloaded onto your iOS appliance.
Please give us a bit more info, and we'll plug you into the right place. Also, Logos has a bunch of free stuff going at http://bible.faithlife.com ........ if you go there, you can open it with a new account if you don't have one....
Which is what I'm trying to do right now.... *smile*
Philippians 4: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........

I downloaded logos bible on my iPad. That may be the wrong application for reading the commentary. I'm noticing that Logos has a couple of other apps. What I want to do is access Keil and Del.. commentary and read it on my ipad.

Hi Michael! *smile* My question is (sorry I didn't ask it better before!) .... Did you buy the license from Logos? Do you own it?
Otherwise you cannot use it. (There are, by the way, free resources that you can use!)

Nineteenth-century German theologians Carl Friedrich Keil and Franz Delitzsch wrote one of the most popular and extensive commentaries on the Old Testament. Today their Commentary on the Old Testament is still held in esteem by conservative theological circles for its rigorous scholarship and sound theological judgment. Beginning with the nature and format of the Old Testament, this evangelical commentary examines historical and literary aspects of the text, as well as grammatical and philological issues. Hebrew words and grammar are used, but usually in context, so you can follow the train of thought.
The Keil and Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament (COT) (10 vols.) is the 1996 revised edition from Hendrickson. While the content is unchanged, it features a number of enhancements to the text. Arabic has been transliterated, biblical references have been changed from Roman to Arabic numerals and long paragraphs have been broken into shorter ones so that the work is easier to read.
Please note: All ten volumes are contained in one resource.
Key Features
- Revised edition with numerous enhancements
- Examines historical and literary aspects of the text
