Missing Timeline in logos 4.6

I am coming across several issues where I am missing my timelines that I had in version 3

will we ever get this added before version 5?

I would like the timelines from version 3 which people are kindly contributed to

I don't want to install version 3 just so I can use my timelines , this was a module I purchased in version 3

could somebody at logos comment on this missing tool

please please add it before version 5 as I am a windows XP user and it may take me some time before I can be in a position to upgrade

As the author of several L3 timelines, I can assure you that L4 is harder to break into to create documents not officially sanctioned e.g. timeline.

The timelines you purchased from Logos (with the add-in, or as part of a base package) can be viewed in Logos 4. To view user-created timeline XML files, you will need to install LDLS3.

I managed to convert all the custom timelines to a image file, JPEG

I was going to try to put these into a PBB

I've tried all different formats to get the image into A personal book With no success

I am using Word 2003 to create the document

as anybody try to import an image into Word 2003 to create a personal book?

I can make the images into a PDF file, which works fine for me,As I made a link in my favourites in logos 4

Hi Mick

Personal Books are created from .docx files not .doc so need Word 2007 or higher. Can't be done from Word 2003.

Perhaps your problem in making a PB is that you are using Word 2003. Early on there was a problem with images and Word 2003 when building a PB.

Here is a Word docx (made with Word 2010) of your timeline picture. Logos4 does build it into a PB.
[EDIT: try copying the docx below to your computer (do NOT open it with Word 2003) and then have your Logos4 build it into a PB]

The timelines you purchased from Logos (with the add-in, or as part of a base package) can be viewed in Logos 4. To view user-created timeline XML files, you will need to install LDLS3.

Problem is L3 is no longer supported as a product so I don't think it is a valid answer from Logos anymore to tell users they can keep using L3 when it is not being supported. Logos needs to be consistent one way or the other. If they are not supporting a product then they should not be directing using to that product as an answer to the shortcomings of L4 in functionality it offers that is less than what L3 offered.

As a provider of many timelines I have to disagree. Logos never officially supported user created timelines - although they really should. So those of us who "beat the system" have to stick to the system we outwitted - L3.

Whether or not they supported user timelines - the tool itself was supported, it was the writing and debugging of the xml documents that was not supported to my understanding - and I would not expect them to debug user code - but that's all moot now.

I don't believe it is appropriate for them to tell users to use a product they no longer support period. There are issues beyond the timelines themselves if a user is running it on current operating systems, due to Internet Explorer. To me it's bad advice. If they are going to continue to direct customers to use L3 then when doing so Logos should make it clear they don't support the product anymore and the customer has the potential of running into issues with the product if they are running it on a system using IE9 or higher. To simply say you can use L3 without the warnings leaves it open for the expectation there is customer support available for the product.

PS my comments are not about Bradley. He has provided great user support over many years including to myself. It just happened to be Bradley passing on the company line at this point in time. The issue I raise is with the company line not the individual.

SQLite adds another level of difficulty and additional concerns regarding messing things up. I might modify a reading plan or two but I wouldn't try to insert timelines. The problem is even worse because it is difficult to get a high quality low cost timeline maker due to some lawsuits in the software arena. If Logos quits taking all my money, I expect to create the timelines in a PB format which is compatible with the L4 structure.

By tool I meant the engine in L3 that took the xml code and rendered it - sorry for bad choice of wording - I created a number of my own timelines also and lament this lack of feature in L4 and probably had tool on my mind in terms of how they could implement it without users have to write raw xml and get it into the database at the same time. I think we can both agree on the lamenting of there being a lack of user created timelines in L4 regarless of how we view the other matters [:)]

Thanks Bradley, its just one of those things that I think needs to be clearly communicated. I know its just easier to point someone to L3 than type a larger explanation.
