I don't know what's happening
Every time I run the new beta version
after a couple minutes it automatically shuts down
I've tried everything I can think of
this version is unstable , is there a rollback feature to uninstall beta 3
Appreciate any help

Have you downloaded a fresh copy of the engine and reinstalled it?
Have you started to a blank layout?

Michael - Do you use handouts? From my BASIC ability to read logs, it looks like some problem with handouts.

"Alabama24" - I have the same error code BUT I do not have any handouts.
All of our logs contain this error:
Error ID: 2745
Error detail: KeyNotFoundException: The key was not found in the collection.

Hi Michael,
Would it be possible to email your handouts.db to feedback@Logos.com, so that I can found out exactly what is happening? You could just zip up the whole folder located at C:\Users\{yourUserName}\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\{x#x#x#x#x#.x##}\Documents\Handout.

If you could actually please email the folder that Seth asked for to Logos4Feedback@logos.com, instead of feedback@logos.com, that would allow us to address the issue more expediently.

Actually a better email to send database to is Logos4Feedback@logos.com
Also, the path i gave to the db is if you are running on Windows, the Logos4 directory is somewhere else on mac.

We are working on a fix to fix the data server side.
In the meantime you might be able to fix the problem by going to your Logos file menu and filter on "Handout" and see if you have a handout you don't recognize or that might have been deleted a very long time ago (maybe even three years ago), and if it gets deleted the problem should go away.
Apparently there was some old version of Handouts that was migrated to our new sync server, that would have been deleted a long time ago from the users' machine, but after we moved Handout data to the new sync server the users' machine synced it down, and it is causing problems because it is incompatible with the current handout documents.0 -
Yes even though I had even deleted not only any handouts but also the entire Handout folder "your" downloaded/synced handout still showed up when I loaded the Beta--and yes that handout was from many months ago - it had already been earlier deleted.
So far 2 minutes have gone by without a crash--that was usually the critical time.
At 3 minutes into "lift off" -- perhaps we are now "cured" ?
4 minutes and still OK
so QUESTION: Is that "phantom" handout going to again populate after I close down?
STEPS TAKEN:
1. I deleted the whole Handout folder.
2. Loaded L4 Beta 3 &
3. immediately found and deleted this "phantom" handout from my file menu.[For now anyways] that has solved the issue.Thank you

can't remember if there were any old ones That came across from logos 3
I've deleted the folder ,
So far it has not shut down,
still testing some other features to see what happens
Will try to create a handout to see what happens

I think that the issue was old ones, even ones that had potentially been deleted, but which synced back in error (on logos part).

I believe you will also need to go to your File menu and look for any rogue Handouts that may have reappeared after previously being removed. Delete the folder, launch Logs, delete any rogue Handouts in the file menu.

Michael,
Try going to the file menu, and searching for Handout. Your database shows you only had one in there, and it was very very old. Right click and delete that one document, and that will tell the server to stop downloading it after you delete the folder.
You probably have to do this as soon as Logos4 launches since after a few minutes it will open up that document and see that it is invalid and crash.Regards,

I had to turn off the synchronisation, Every time it starts to synchronise the file comes back
It is not shut down since I've done this, I will synchronise one more time just to see if there is an error with synchronisation
There's no handout files in My file menu
I deleted the folderIn the settings which got rid of it
Update
Still getting a shutdown when I have the synchronise on

After you enable synchronization one more time, right after Logos boots up do a quick check and see if you have a Handout in your file menu. If it isn't there, but you are still getting the crash, then something else might be going on. If it is there, try to right click and delete it from the file menu,.
When you enable synchronization it will try to repopulate the database you deleted, and if you didn't mark the Handout as deleted from within the Logos application, then it will keep trying to download it.
We also should have a fix, that will fix the data on the server, in a bit.0 -

I had a scary situation, since I am going to have a Logos presentation tomorrow at the conference. The Logos (after the new Beta update) crashed after a while, always. After reading the advice here in this thread, I opened Logos, although it showed the crash message, I was able to go to the Files section. On top of the list there was a handout I haven't recognized. I deleted the handout and since then, no crashes. Praise the Lord. I would be in real problem tomorrow otherwise.

I have a home page issue- sync issue- stop using internet- shut down restart- iniate internet- try to restart- error and crash.

The logs seems to indicate that this crash happens when you're already shutting down the application. I'll have someone look into it, but it doesn't appear that it's preventing you from opening the program. Please let me know if this analysis isn't correct.

The program opens fine- but my home page is basically just update- and syncing is still an issue a carry over from 2.

The crash on shut-down should be fixed in Beta 4. Please let us know if you are still experiencing this issue after updating.
