Logos 5 Alpha 5 contains a new optimisation in resource display for Windows users. (Note to Mac users: we plan to bring the core technology underlying this optimisation to Mac in a future release, but we're testing it on Windows first.)
It's currently disabled by default, because it's still experimental. To enable it, run set new display to true in the command box.
Once you run that command every resource you open from then on will use our new optimised display code. (Existing open resource panels will not get the enhancement; you will have to close and reopen them.)
You should see increased performance in: opening a resource, scrolling, paging, opening reading view, and loading a layout.
You may notice visual artifacts, incorrect characters, incorrect text layout, or boxes in your resources. The known issues are:
- some Hebrew cantillation marks are not positioned correctly
- the lower-left and lower-right square brackets (e.g., used in some Bibles, such as HCSB and LEB) will display as boxes
If you notice any other errors in resource display, please report them in this thread, ideally with a screenshot and the resource position (copied with "Copy location as URL" from the panel menu).
If the new code is causing issues, you can turn it off at any time with the command set new display to false.
