Can't print highlights to MS Word

I have highlights for a resource turned on in Visual Filters, and on the Print/Export screen the highlights are visible. If I print selected resource text to a printer or "print" to a PDF file the highlights are printed. But from the Print/Export screen if I select Send to new document: Microsoft Word (or Paste into open document: Microsoft Word), the text of the resource goes into Word without highlights and also the 2 column format is lost. Saving as RTF also gives no highlights, but saving as XPS does give the highlights and 2 columns. I need it in Word so I can insert some page breaks and do other editing. Should highlights print to Word? (I'm on Windows 7, MS Word 2007, and the latest version of L4.)

What you describe is the same way for me in Win7 and Word 2010. I believe this is the way the print/export tool is designed.

Should highlights print to Word?

No. When you "print" to a PDF, Logos is rendering the highlights for you (as it would do if sent to a real printer). When you "print" to Word, the text is moved over without the highlighting information, which is program centric. (Word doesn't know what to do with the highlighting info…)

Keith, A few extra words about this. Logos offers many, many highlighting options, far more than what Word supports. Certainly some of the styles in Logos are equivalent to what Word can do but the majority of them have no equivalents and so they can't be copied over.

In my Hebrew class we created a visual filter that would be applied to the Hebrew text in a way that the colors would still be available when we cut and paste to Word. Our prof told us that the colored foreground options would be recognized by Word but many of the other formatting options would be lost so we need to be careful when making our choices for the visual filter. Perhaps a more experienced user could point us to a list of which formats are seen by Word and which ones get stripped from the text.

That is good to know. I tried it and the Foreground colors do indeed come into Word. The ALL CAPS and >>Inline Pointers<< also come in, but I could not find any others which do. Would be nice if one or more of the solid color highlights (background color) were supported, which it would seem would be possible since Word does support highlighting.

I just tested right now, and text colour, inserted text, and bold/italic come across. Other than that, I don't think we have an official list of what's supported and what's not.

I would really like to have my fully highlighted text to come over to word. I use the complete chapters that have been highlighted to lead my Precept class. If I could reproduce the marked version of whatever chapter we are studying, I could structure, make notes, write questions directly to the highlighted page. I tried to work around the issue by creating my marking symbols in word, saving them as png file, then selecting the file in the image box of creating a new highlight. Even though the image originally came from word, the image/symbol still does not come across when exporting to word. So frustrating.
