It would be really great if Logos were PLATFORM INDEPENDENT !!!!
As we all know Logos deprecated the functionality of it's software in XP.
And it's just a matter of time before this also applies to Vista, and eventually WIndows 7, etc. Oh yeah and what about when Apple changes it's operating system ???? Oh and Andorid ????
As we can see with Tizen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tizen) there is going to be some major competition in the operating systems available for many of the new devices coming out.
Which presents a huge problem for Logos users, will we not have
accessibility to our very expensive Logos software because Logos will drop the functionality in the OS as it did in XP or because they just won't support the users operating system.
Specifically Apple,
Windows and Google (Android) ???? Same problem I have had for the last 8 years on my laptop and desktop. So it's very feasible and it has happened with XP.
As an avid (almost 20 years) Linux user, by the way if you have an Android device you are technically a Linux user, I have had to buy several Windows licenses to just be able to use ONE program, my Logos, on my desktop and laptop.
I am not planning on buying another Windows license ever again, even with Windows 8 coming out soon.
Linux is FREE has been and there will always will be many that are, because you can pay for it if you prefer.
SOLUTION:
With html5, css3 and Javascript (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5#New_APIs) we the users could really have a great user experience by not having to be tied to the pockets of Apple, Windows and Google (Android).
Looking at all the major companies which are behind html5, css3,. javascript and the Tizen project, and other open source projects, Logos with it's current business model could be severely cornering the users, to the pockets of Apple, Windows and Google (Android) and severely limiting the devices and versions of Logos it's users can have if they want to keep using Logos.
Competition in operating systems will be getting very steep in the very near future the success of products like Logos will be necessitated by their ability to be cross platform.
As we have seen it is not a daunting issue for those companies who are thinking ahead and willing to provide a good product and user experience for their customers.
Food for thought.
