I work offline but would like to update Logos 4 to see if anything has been done to make it more accessible with screen readers. How can I update the program?
I think the safest way is to go into program settings, turn on "connect to internet", restart Logos and type "Update Now" in the command box. Then wait about 20 minutes to make sure it does whatever it needs to and once its done with any updates go back into your settings and turn it off.
Do you mean you have Internet shut off in Program Settings or you are unconnected to the Internet?

Where are the program settings? My screen reader doesn't read the menus, only what type of info the menu points to. so which menu are the program settings in?
Sorry, didn't realize you're need a screen reader. I saw your other thread about how it isn't helping you with some.
Program settings is under Tools - In the middle section at the bottom - well the last one in the middle
That will open a pane.
Automatically Download updates is the first setting - you can set it to off and then manually tell it to update
"Use internet" is the last one in the first group of settings. You'll have to set that to Yes in order to get it to update.
Once that's done then type "Update Now" in the Command window at the top besides the "tools" menu
It seems like you would be greatly benefited if you could use your reader to locate the command box. Are you able to do this? if you can type or input ALT + D that is the shortcut for the command Box. If you put "Program settings" in the command box, that will open it up. Most of what you can do through the menus can be done through this box. Without knowing exactly how your menu reading software works its hard to know what it can do.
You can use the Alt + D that Phil describes and then this command: Set Use Internet to Yes (or No) without having to go through the menu
Many of the commands you can type in are listed in the wiki at: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Commands
I set Use Internet to Yes then typed in Update Now and hit enter. I then went to bed knowing my dial-up would take a while. I never did get a screen asking if I wanted to install anything.
I was supposed to be a beta tester but could never log in over the Internet. Logos sent me a license file and the program on DVD. so I guess there is no way of updating the program with my slow dial-up. So the program is a dud for me since it is very inaccessible. is there a listing of keystrokes online somewhere that might help?

You can update the software from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe
But it will take around 1 to 2 hours to download on dialup.
Resource updates would not be advisable!
When I run that file I get an error message that it tried to close Windows C++ in an unusual way. when I enter on the OK button I then get a message that the program has encountered an error and has to close so I enter on the close button. I do have Avast and the windows firewall turned off but this stil happens.

Tech Support has had this error reported a number of times, and there's not one specific cause. The most common problem is failing to download the installation file; this can be worked around by deleting the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos4\Install folder and re-running http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe
(This procedure isn't recommended in general because it can prevent Windows Installer from being able to repair the Logos 4 installation if needed; log files for the setup process should identify what exactly is going wrong.)
Finally, none of the Service Releases for Logos 4 have added significant screen reader improvements.

Hope this helps.
I just downloaded Logos4setup.exe and ran it. I thought this might update me to L4a. I also thought this might take care of some licenses from L4 beta which will soon be expiring. Here is the list of what will be expiring:
Logos 4 Beta Resources

Since I use dial-up I cannot connect in L4. What can I do to keep these licenses from expiring?
Most of the resources have an old internal id that is expiring and I think one is expiring because you do not have the licence ie. LLS:CSGNT (Cascadia Syntax Graphs is only in Scholar's Silver and above).
