Kindle Fire HD 16 GB - is that enough storage for Logos?

Jack, I would get the 32GB. For only an extra $50 (only half of the $100 that Apple charges for a similar upgrade for its iPad), you double your storage, which may come in handy if you want to download a large portion of your library (especially nice if you're not always near Wi-Fi) and have storage left over for non-Logos usage.

The real problem is that Logos Android Bible needs WiFi, 3G or 4G to contact its servers to search and operate its software.  If one's Church prohibits WiFi use for non-employees by using an encrypted network, then the Logos android user cannot use the software.

Thus, downloading all one's resources still won't enable proper use under those condtions.  I'm receiveing my 32 Gb Kindle Fire HD 7" later today.  Unfortunately, I'm forced to use AcroBible which alao has many resources and all my notes but operates solely on the unit wtihout requireing WiFi access.

I have plenty of room on my new Fire for my entire Logos libary but it can't be used.  That is very unfortunate.

The other problem with Logos is that the fonts for light and dark conditions are very limited.  The AcroBible uses brightly colored fonts useable in all light condtions.

Finally, the icons for rapid Bible book access in Logos are very small and hard to read.  The AcroBible icons are huge and very legible in the worst conditions.

It appears the Logos Android Bible is optimized for Android PHONES while the AcroBible is optimized for the Kindle Fire.  Logus may need a separate iteration of their Android Bible specifially optimized for the Kindle Fire and not suitable for phones.

But if I download it all, then I can use passage guide without any wifi - right?

If I'm not mistaken, the actual work of the passage guide is done on the Logos servers, and only the results are displayed on your device.

The iOS version works the same way as Android.

Thanks, Todd. So is it safe to say that the Android is incrementally and not significantly behind iOS?

Well, I don't have Android, so I can't speak to all features, but when it comes to requiring net access for guides, word lookups, and indexed searches, they are the same.

I can do an offline search of a local resource, but it's slow.  Does Android have that?  I don't use search much even online since the interface is lacking in controls.

"Cannot use the software" is a bit of a strong statement.  You can't do some types of searches or use something like passage guide.  However, you can still read books and navigate assuming a particular  book is downloaded beforehand.

I just received my Kindle Fire HD 7" 32 Gb unit.  It is completely different from the Kindle Fire 1st Generation as to how Logos works.  AcroBible does not operate on the Fire HD at all.  Logos fonts are great on the Fire HD but real bad on the Fire 1st Gen.  Logos book icons are very clear on the Fire HD but very unclear on the Fire 1st Gen.

I fail to understand why Logos improved so dramatically on the Fire HD versus Fire 1st Gen but that is the way it is.

I just will have to get my Church to give me WiFi access to use Logos there.  I'm sure I can arrange that.  Then the Search functions should be operable.

One problem I have on the Fire HD is the Devotion Selections.  On the Fire 1st Gen I used to have "My Utmost for the Highest" and "Morning and Evening."  For some reason it now switched there to "Thoughts for the Quiet Hour" and "The Christian's Secret of a Holy Life."

On the Fire HD I now have "My Utmost for the Highest" and "Amazing Grace-366 Inspiring Hymn Stories."  How do I get back "Morning and Evening" on both?  Are the two Devotional books now random?

I'll shortly be deregistering my Fire 1st Gen and just keeping the Fire HD 7" 32 Gb.  It would be really nice if all aspects of Logos Android use could be done in the absence of WiFi.
