page turning
Is anyone else out there frustrated with the page turning on logos for iPad?
i think it is the only app I have which does have scrolling and almost every time I tap to turn I end up with a split page 
no very happy!

I am curious about which (reading) apps you have which do have scrolling? Until today, the two major readers (Kindle & iBooks) didn't have this functionality. Apple added a scrolling feature to iBooks just today (in version 3). Kindle does not have this feature.

The reason this is happening is because you are "tapping" in the bottom right hand corner. There are two changes you can make to fix this: If you prefer to "tap," make sure you tap up higher. You can "tap" anywhere on the right or left side for about an inch from the edge of the screen. Perhaps a better method: instead of "tapping," simply swipe your finger across the screen from right to left (or vice versa to go back). [;)]

Yea i get all that re the tapping but i find tapping anywhere on the edge of the right of the page gives me the double pages.
I just much prefer scrolling.... however, this is not my world and i am not God, so i will have to live with it.
Still love the app.

I'm sorry, but I can't duplicate that. I did hand my iPad to my wife to experiment a bit. The first couple of times she tried to turn the page, she had the same thing happen to her that you did… although she was doing a chevron swipe from the lower right. Just to double check… you are talking about the Logos mobile app (rather than the Faithlife app), right?
If you wanted to create a split screen purposefully, do you know how? If you notice, in the bottom right (or top right if you have moved it already), there is a slider. If you push and drag that slider, you can create a split screen in different proportions. If you tap it, two equal sized panels will appear.
Did you try the swipe motion? You can swipe anywhere, but it is best to avoid areas where other interface buttons might be (such as the bottom right).

FWIW – I had not used the YouVersion app in a while so I just downloaded it. It does scroll nicely as you said… however, unless I am missing something, it only scrolls one Bible chapter at a time. You still have to turn the pages when you get to the next chapter. [;)]

Scrolling doesn't really work as well in practice on touch devices. I've had the experience in some apps where, trying to select an item in a list, I accidently did a tiny flick that scrolled many pages from where I was. And it's a pain to find a certain spot while scrolling a long document. Logos / Kindle / Google style paging gives better control most of the time after you get used to it; selecting text across pages is the biggest problem. (I really like the page turning animation Google Books uses.) YouVersion found a fairly nice middle ground: page between sections, and scroll within sections.

I get the "tap on the right-hand side and get a split screen" quite a lot.
It is as though there is a thin slice up the right-hand edge which if you tap results in a split-screen, then a thin slice just to the left of it which if you tap moves on to the next page.
I had assumed this was deliberate as it produces a very clean 50:50 split screen effect when you tap on the far right.
This is in the Bible app on an iPad 2.

I have heard from Logos that they are aware of this and would like to add an ability to scroll in future updates. I often get annoyed with split pages, but it is the same way with my Kindle app too

To be honest I never thought I would want a scrolling option...until today that is. I have been experimenting with iBooks 3.0 specifically the scroll theme used in conjunction with the new copy feature. The scrolling makes it a lot easier. Also when I paste a quote it gives the source as well. Very helpful. For my non-religious books (i.e. secular history books) I can't get in Logos, I might start preferring iBooks to Kindle. Of course my first choice in ebooks is Logos & Vyrso.

If I may state the obvious, simply put the resource you are reading on the right side of the split screen and move the left panel off of the screen to the left. Now it is impossible to acquire a split screen by advancing pages.

My frustration is with highlighting text. If it flows onto the next page I don't know of any way to highlight it other than to change the font size so that it is on the same page and then highlight it. If the text would scroll, this would not be an issue. Otherwise, I prefer page turns to scrolling. Is it possible to have both features?

I agree that this is a limitation, particularly on the iPhone where the real estate is limited. Sometimes switching the orientation of the device reveals more text (as an alternative to resizing the text). Notwithstanding this, I agree with your observation and would welcome the option to scroll.

Apple's iBooks has just added the Scrolling option. Hopefully that's a trend that others (Kindle, Logos) will follow.
Other than highlighting inconveniences, my biggest complaint with the page turn is that the syncing between the two panes is erratic and unpredictable (e.g. Lexham English Bible on top, Faithlife Study Bible on bottom, iPad in landscape mode). With syncing turned on, it's sometimes almost impossible to have the Bible text and the study Bible notes sync'ed to just the right positions that you need to read. This becomes such a distraction sometimes that I just turn off the syncing between the two window panes.
I hope Logos will do something to improve this syncing algorithm.
