Fast on the Mac, someone else can vouch for that other OS. Now do you have any specific questions?

how well does the timeline feature work?

Very well in the resources that have been tagged for it.

On Windows it's not blazing, but more than acceptable. Appreciably faster than 4 in some areas.

I think this is a very accurate description of the Windows version. It is a bit snappier in places, and some are very noticeable. I have a not-very-fast computer by today's standards but it is not a slow one either.

Bottom line: It is faster, but it is not going to blow your mind.

One thing that has bugged me since the launch of L4 that is still there: I wish switching layouts was quicker; this seems to have not improved in L5.  Also, I have disliked the fact that the entire program re-sizes for a few seconds and snaps back open to full size when done. It is just a visual thing, but really annoys me. It still does that, too.

The menus and moving between windows, at least to me, seem sluggish.

One way to speed up the process is to delete most of those snap shots out of layouts. If you had L4 and never cleared any of them out, then there is a lot of them there slowing things down.

    Wow Lynden!

I have visited the forums every day for 3+ years and was active in the newsgroups before that. Just when I think I know all the tips, someone here teaches me something new.

Thank you! I have never deleted those snapshots.

Is there a Quick way to delete all of them [with out changing the stored layouts]?

    Thanks for this tip.

Logos 5 is definitely faster with linked windows. Also the Information Pane seems to run much smoother now with the "Hover" option - I never used that option in L4, but can use it now without any problem in L5.

The menus are in fact still slow, especially the Layouts menu. I have 14 saved Layouts, and I use them. Even deleting all the other snapshots the menu takes around 4 seconds to load. There are some other areas that are still relatively slow - boot time, the "Print/Export" resource, and a few others. But all in all there is a nice improvement.

You shouldn't have to. The unnamed ones should be automatically deleted after a couple of weeks, or something's wrong. That said, it does speed things up to delete them manually anyway, at least in L4, and seemingly in L5 as well.
