Off-Topic: iPad 4 questions

Hey folks.

I have an iPad 2 64gb wifi. I've had it for 18 months or so, and I love it. Being in seminary with dozens of books to read, between Logos and Kindle I can have most of my books with me at any time and read wherever I happen to be. I've never had any problems with it, and I don't do anything particularly elaborate with it (just used it to take video for the first time last Sunday).

The other day I upgraded to iOS 6.0.1. I purposely waited for the .1 version so the early kinks I had read about could be worked out. Apparently they haven't been sufficiently worked out, as I seem to be experiencing the ongoing wifi issues with the 6.0.x line of iOS. Wifi has never failed me and never been a cause of slowness or apps hanging. Now it's happening with regularity. Disabling and re-enabling wifi occasionally improves the issue for a while. A hard shutdown and reboot improves it for a while, too. But the iPad is practically a brick at this point when it comes to on-network usage (which is 25 - 50% of what I do with it).

Questions:

1) Is it possible to downgrade back to iOS 5.1.1? Any downsides to doing that apart from lost features from 6.0.1?

2) Do folks here who have the iPad 4 have normal wifi behavior with 6.0.1, or are you seeing the wifi problem, too?

Thanks,

Donnie

Yes, but I don't know how other than restoring from a backup… which you may not have.

The only way I know to revert to an earlier OS is to wipe the device clean with a backup… which would delete your other programs (or revert to a previous state).

You mean an iPad 2, right? I have an iPad 3, running iOS 6, and have no issues with wifi.

No, I meant an iPad 4. I'm considering upgrading to get the retina display, faster processor, and other hardware improvements. If there are no wifi issues with an iPad 4 and 6.0.1, it's more reason to upgrade.

    Sorry I wasn't clearer...

No problem. While I can't comment on the 4th gen, the 3rd gen is working fine with 6.0.1.
